Graeme Sawyer (born 28 January 1957) is the former Lord Mayor of the City of Darwin, the capital of the Northern Territory, Australia. He became Lord Mayor at an election in April 2008, when he won 56.8% of the vote after preferences. [1] At the 2012 Local Government elections, he was beaten by Katrina Fong Lim, daughter of former Lord Mayor Alec Fong Lim, who received over 56% of the primary vote.

Sawyer was a guest on Dirty Jobs during an episode that featured the catching of cane toads, an invasive species in northern Australia. Sawyer runs an organisation which attempts to control the toad's population.

2005 Northern Territory general election

A general election was held in the Northern Territory, Australia, on 18 June 2005. The centre-left Labor Party, led by Chief Minister Clare Martin, won a second term with a landslide victory, winning six of the ten seats held by the opposition Country Liberal Party in the 25-member Northern Territory Legislative Assembly, bringing their total to 19. It was the second largest victory in any Northern Territory election. The only larger majority in the history of the Territory was in the first election, in 1974. In that contest, the CLP won 17 of the 19 seats in the chamber, and faced only two independents as opposition.

Millner was an electoral division of the Legislative Assembly in Australia's Northern Territory. One of the Legislative Assembly's original electorates, it was first contested at the first election in 1974. It was named after the suburb of Millner, which in turn was named for James Millner, a doctor and early Australian explorer of the Northern Territory who drowned on the SS Gothenburg tragedy. It was abolished in 2008 and replaced with the new electorate of Fong Lim. Millner was an urban electorate, and at its abolition covered 22.74 km², taking in the suburbs of Millner, Coconut Grove, Ludmilla and part of Rapid Creek. There were 4434 people enrolled in the electorate as of June 2005.

The City of Darwin is a local government area of the Northern Territory, Australia. It includes the central business district of the capital, Darwin City, and represents two-thirds of its metropolitan population. Spillett is a division of the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly in Australia. It was created in 2016, for the 2016 general elections, and covers the northern portions of Darwin and Palmerston, including Darwin Airport. It is named for Peter Spillett, a historian and former member of Darwin City Council.

Jeffrey David Collins is an Australian politician. He has been a member of the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly since 2016, representing the electorate of Fong Lim. He was member of the governing Labor Party, but he was one of three MPs excluded from the Labor caucus on 21 December 2018 over alleged criticism of the government, and he resigned from the party on 8 February 2019 to sit as an independent. In March 2020 he joined the Territory Alliance as its second MP.

Kathryn Jane Worden is an Australian politician. She is a Labor member of the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly since 2016, representing the electorate of Sanderson.

Darwin High School Independent school

Darwin High School is an Australian senior secondary high school in the Northern Territory and is an Independent Public School for students in years 10 – 12. Founded first in 1921, the school was closed, reopened, renamed, and relocated until its move to its current location, Bullocky Point, in 1962. The school offers advanced English and STEM programs, as well as clubs, activities, and athletics.
