Grand Prix Rudy Dhaenens was a professional road bicycle race held annually in Nevele (Belgium) to honor the former World Racing Champion Rudy Dhaenens. In 2005 the race was organized as a 1.1 event on the UCI Europe Tour. The race was held as a National Event race in 2006.
Nevele is a former municipality located in the Belgian province of East Flanders. The municipality comprises the towns of Hansbeke, Landegem, Merendree, Nevele proper, Poesele and Vosselare. On January 1, 2006 Nevele had a total population of 11,217. The total area is 51.89 km² which gives a population density of 216 inhabitants per km².

Deinze is a city and a municipality in the Belgian province of East Flanders. It comprises the city of Deinze, and the towns of Astene, Bachte-Maria-Leerne, Gottem, Grammene, Meigem, Petegem-aan-de-Leie, Sint-Martens-Leerne, Vinkt, Wontergem and Zeveren. On January 1, 2019, Deinze had a population of 43,500. The municipality's total area is 75.54 km2 (29 sq mi), giving a population density of 375 inhabitants per km².

Roger Hammond is an English retired bicycle racer, specialising in cyclo-cross and road cycling. Hammond grew up in Chalfont St Peter in Buckinghamshire and attended Dr Challoner's Grammar School as a teenager. While still at school he won the 1992 world junior cyclo-cross championship in Leeds, but elected to concentrate on his university studies before pursuing a cycling career. He was the British road champion in 2003 and 2004. He rode for Discovery Channel in 2005-2006, for Team High Road in 2007–2008, for Cervélo TestTeam in 2009–2010, and Garmin–Cervélo in 2011.

Geert Omloop is a Belgian professional road racing cyclist who was born in Herentals. He turned professional in 1997 having raced for several professional teams in 1995 and 1996 as a trainee. He became the Belgian National Road Race Champion in 2003, but lost the title in 2004 when he finished second.
