Greenogue ( /ˈɡriːnoʊɡ/ ) is a football ground located in Newcastle, South Dublin, Ireland. [1]
South Dublin is a county in Ireland, within the province of Leinster, and the Dublin Region, a successor to County Dublin, from which its name derives. South Dublin County Council is the local authority for the county. The county contains both dense suburbs of Dublin and stretches of unpopulated mountain. In 2011 it had a population of 278,749, making it the third most populous county in the state.
Greenogue is located 1.6 km (1 mile) east-northeast of Newcastle, County Dublin and immediately west of Casement Aerodrome. [2]
Casement Aerodrome or Baldonnel Aerodrome is a military airbase to the southwest of Dublin, Ireland situated off the N7 main road route to the south and south west. It is the headquarters and the sole airfield of the Irish Air Corps, and is also used for other government purposes.

Peamount United Football Club is an Irish association football club based in Newcastle, South Dublin. The club is best known for its senior women's team who in 2011–12 became founder members and inaugural champions of the Women's National League. They have also represented the Republic of Ireland in Europe and in 2011–12 they became the first Republic of Ireland team, including men's team, to qualify from their group for the knockout stages of a European competition. The club's senior men's team compete in the Leinster Senior League. Peamount United also field teams in the Dublin Women's Soccer League, the Dublin and District Schoolboys League and the Metropolitan Girls League.
The Women's National League is the top level league for women's association football in the Republic of Ireland. It is organised by the Football Association of Ireland and the Women's Football Association of Ireland. The FAI/WFAI previously organised a women's national league known as the Ladies League of Ireland or the Woman's League of Ireland during the 1970s and 1980s. The current league was founded in 2011 and the inaugural winners were Peamount United. The winners qualify for the UEFA Women's Champions League.

Organised women's association football has been played in the Republic of Ireland since at least the late 1960s and the national team has been active since 1973. Notable Republic of Ireland women's association footballers include Katie Taylor, Stephanie Roche and Emma Byrne. In addition to representing the Republic of Ireland at full international level, Taylor is also an Irish, European, World and Olympic boxing champion. In 2014 Roche was a FIFA Puskás Award nominee. Dora Gorman is a Republic of Ireland women's international footballer who currently plays for UCD Waves. In 2010, she was captain of the Republic of Ireland U-17 squad that were runners-up in the 2010 UEFA Women's Under-17 Championship and quarter-finalists in the 2010 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup. Gorman is an all-round sportswomen and has also represented the Ireland women's national field hockey team at various levels and has played senior Gaelic football for Galway GAA.
UCD Waves is an Irish association football club based in Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown. It is the senior women's football team of University College Dublin. Founded in 1966, UCD are one of the oldest women's football clubs in the Republic of Ireland. Like the UCD men's team, the women's football team competes in national competitions, such as the FAI Women's Cup and the Women's National League, as well as intervarsity competitions. UCD has also represented the Republic of Ireland in the UEFA Women's Cup. In 2014, following a merger, with DLR Waves, the club added the Waves title to their name.

Raheny United Football Club is an Irish association football club based in Raheny, Dublin. Raheny United was founded in 1994 following the amalgamation of Raheny Boys and Dunseedy United. In 2017-18 their senior men's team compete in the Premier A division of the Athletic Union League. An over–35s team compete in the Amateur Football League. They also have 31 schoolboy teams competing in both the Dublin & District Schoolboy League and the North Dublin Schoolboys/Girls League. The club however is perhaps best known for its senior women's team who in 2011–12 became founder members of the Women's National League. They were league champions in both 2012–13 and 2013–14 and also competed in both the 2013–14 and the 2014–15 UEFA Women's Champions League. In 2015 Raheny United's senior women's team merged with Shelbourne Ladies F.C.. This effectively saw Shelbourne take Raheny United's place in the WNL. The club currently cater for four senior teams, thirty schoolboy teams, and host their own youth academy every Saturday morning, making them one of the larger junior soccer clubs in Ireland.
The Dublin Women's Soccer League is a women's association football league featuring teams from the Republic of Ireland. While the majority of the participating clubs are based in the Greater Dublin Area, the DWSL has regularly included teams from outside this area. Whilst previously the DWSL was one of the largest women's leagues in Ireland it has now been overtaking by the Wexford, MGL and Cork Leagues. The League is now the only League in the Dublin area allowed by the FAI to run Senior Women's Football
Shamrock Rovers Ladies Football Club is an Irish association football club based in Dublin. It is the women's section of Shamrock Rovers F.C.. During the late 1990s and early 2000s, Shamrock Rovers Ladies were one of the most successful teams in women's association football in the Republic of Ireland, winning both the Dublin Women's Soccer League and the FAI Women's Cup five times in a row. In 2002–03 Rovers became the first women's team to represent the Republic of Ireland in Europe and in 2011–12 they were founder members of the Women's National League.
Karen Duggan is a former Republic of Ireland women's international footballer who currently plays for Peamount United. She has previously played for UCD Waves. Between 2013 and 2016 Duggan was selected for the Women's National League Team of the Season for four successive seasons. She was the only player selected all four seasons. In 2015–16 she was also WNL Senior Player of the Season. Duggan has also played camogie at club, university and county level.
The 2008 Dublin Women's Soccer League was the 15th season of the women's association football league featuring teams from the Greater Dublin Area. With a team that included Mary Waldron and Grainne Kierans, St Francis finished as champions. They also won the 2008 FAI Women's Cup, defeating Peamount United 2–1 in the final at Richmond Park.
The 2005 Dublin Women's Soccer League was the 12th season of the women's association football league featuring teams mainly from the Greater Dublin Area. Newly promoted Dublin City University lost all twelve games. This included a 13–0 away defeat against Dundalk City in a game which saw Sonia Hoey score ten goals. Debutant Paula Murray also added a hat-trick. UCD won the title for a third successive season. They also completed a league double after defeating Dundalk City 2–0 in the DWSL Premier Cup final at the AUL Complex. The winning UCD team included Sylvia Gee. Dundalk City won the 2005 FAI Women's Cup, defeating a Peamount United team featuring Katie Taylor 1-0 in the final at Lansdowne Road. Sonia Hoey scored the winner in the 16th minute.
The 2003 Dublin Women's Soccer League was the 10th season of the women's association football league featuring teams mainly from the Greater Dublin Area. The season began on 27 April and concluded on 28 September. UCD won their first DWSL title, the first of four successive league titles. They also completed a double after winning the 2003 FAI Women's Cup. In October 2003, with a team that included Grace Murray, Dundalk City won the DWSL Premier Cup, beating a St James's Gate team featuring Katie Taylor. City defeated Gate in the final 3–2 after extra time. The final was played at the home of Bluebell United and City were presented with the trophy by future Republic of Ireland women's national football team manager Susan Ronan.
Eileen Gleeson is a Republic of Ireland women's association football manager and former footballer. She is currently the manager of UCD Waves. She previously managed Peamount United, who she guided to the last 32 of the 2011–12 UEFA Women's Champions League.
