Acoustic Alchemy is an English smooth jazz band formed in England in the early 1980s by Nick Webb and Simon James.
The baritone guitar is a guitar with a longer scale length, typically a larger body, and heavier internal bracing, so it can be tuned to a lower pitch. Gretsch, Fender, Gibson, Ibanez, ESP Guitars, PRS Guitars, Music Man, Danelectro, Schecter, Jerry Jones Guitars, Burns London and many other companies have produced electric baritone guitars since the 1960s, although always in small numbers due to low popularity. Tacoma, Santa Cruz, Taylor, Martin, Alvarez Guitars and others have made acoustic baritone guitars.
The tenor guitar or four-string guitar is a slightly smaller, four-string relative of the steel-string acoustic guitar or electric guitar. The instrument was initially developed in its acoustic form by Gibson and C.F. Martin so that players of the four-string tenor banjo could double on guitar.
Nicholas Webb was an English acoustic guitarist, composer, and co-founder of contemporary jazz group Acoustic Alchemy. Webb was the brother of Alex Webb, the nephew of actress Sylvia Syms, and appeared as a child in The Punch and Judy Man, British comedian Tony Hancock's second starring film, in which Syms played the wife of his character.
Simon James is an English acoustic guitarist and a founding member of Acoustic Alchemy. After leaving the band, he formed Kymaera, a Latin-style contemporary jazz band.
Miles Gilderdale is a member of smooth jazz group Acoustic Alchemy and plays the steel-string acoustic guitar and electric guitar.
Red Dust and Spanish Lace was the breakthrough debut album by Acoustic Alchemy from 1987. Comprising nine tracks in total, the album spawned the radio-friendly single "Mr. Chow", which was described as "Chinese reggae". Other highlights include "Sarah Victoria", a re-recording of an early demo track, and the title track.

The song provided listeners with new material for the first time since December 2005, and later found release on third LP Men's Needs, Women's Needs, Whatever in May 2007. Eat/Kiss: Music for the Films by Andy Warhol is a soundtrack album by Welsh multi-instrumentalist and composer John Cale. It was released in 1997 on Hannibal Records. Cale composed this music for a screening of two Andy Warhol films, Eat and Kiss. It was premiered in 1994 with two other The Velvet Underground members, guitarist Sterling Morrison and drummer Maureen Tucker. The band included Dave Soldier and the Soldier String Quartet and pedal steel guitarist B.J. Cole. An album version was recorded next year without Morrison in Lille, France.
The Restful Mind is an album by jazz guitarist Larry Coryell. It was recorded at Vanguard Records' New York City studio, and was released by Vanguard in 1975. It features Coryell on acoustic and electric guitars, along with three of the four members of the band Oregon, who were also recording for Vanguard at the time: Ralph Towner appears on guitar, Glen Moore on bass, and Collin Walcott on percussion. The album includes improvisations on two compositions by the French Baroque composer Robert de Visée, an adaptation of Maurice Ravel's "Pavane pour une infante défunte", and four Coryell originals.
