Greg Clements (born 29 September 1963) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played during the 1980s. He played his entire club football career with the Penrith Panthers. He played primarily at five-eighth, but also played the occasional game at halfback [2]
An Erina junior, Clements was graded by the Panthers in 1982. [3] He made his first grade debut from the bench in his side's 40−18 loss to the North Sydney Bears at North Sydney Oval in round 5 of the 1983 season, he played the remainder of the season at halfback. With the arrival of Greg Alexander in the 1984 season, Clements shifted into the forwards. He remained in the forwards until the end of the 1985 season. Clements made his lone appearance in a finals match in the 1985 season when the Panthers (in their first ever finals match in the club's history) lost 38−6 to the Parramatta Eels at the SCG.
In 1986, Clements was shifted into the five eighth position where he would predominantly play for the remainder of his career, and formed a formidable halves combination with Greg Alexander. Clements had his best season at the club in the 1986 season, he played in 23 of his side's 24 games, and scored 6 tries. Clements would remain with the Panthers until the end of the 1989 season. His final game in first grade was in his side's 31−2 victory over the North Sydney Bears at North Sydney Oval in round 17 of the 1989 season, where he would play the solitary match at halfback. In total, Clements played 75 games, and scored 16 tries, and kicked 5 goals and 1 field goal. [4]
After his departure from Penrith, he was the premiership winning captain-coach for the Erina Eagles in the Central Coast competition in 1991, before heading out west to play at both Cowra in 1991 and Cootamundra in 1992, where upon he retired as a player. He has since become a club stalwart at the Cowra Magpies in a coaching capacity. [4]
Gregory Peter Stephen Alexander, also known by the nickname of "Brandy" is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1980s and 1990s, who has since become a radio, television commentator and rugby league journalist. Originally a goal-kicking half-back, in his career he played for and captained the Penrith Panthers and the Auckland Warriors clubs and also represented his country and state on several occasions. Alexander's position for the majority of his career was at half-back, however early in his career – particularly in representative sides – he was moved to fullback. It was this ability to play different positions with great success that saw Alexander make both the 1986 and the 1990 Kangaroo Tours.
Jamie Lyon, also known by the nickname of "Killer", is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 2000s and 2010s. An Australian international and New South Wales State of Origin representative goal-kicking centre, he played his first club football for the Parramatta Eels before joining Super League with English club St. Helens, with whom he won the 2006 Championship and Challenge Cup titles and regarded as saints best ever centre. Lyon then returned to the NRL with Manly Warringah, winning the 2008 and 2011 grand finals with them. Originally a five-eighth, he switched to the centre position in 2009 and was regarded as one of the best centres in the game, winning the Dally M Centre of the year in 2010, 2011, 2013 and 2014, RLIF Centre of the Year in 2011 and 2013, and Dally M Captain of the Year in 2012 and again in 2014 individually. In 2016, he became the fourth player to score 100 tries and 500 goals.
Preston Campbell, is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played for the Gold Coast Titans of the National Rugby League. A New South Wales Country and Indigenous Dreamtime team representative five-eighth or fullback, he previously played for the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks before moving to the Penrith Panthers with whom he won the 2003 NRL Premiership.

The 2020 NRL Grand Final was the conclusive and premiership-deciding game of the 2020 National Rugby League season held at Sydney's ANZ Stadium on October 25. The match was contested between minor premiers Penrith Panthers and second-placed Melbourne Storm. Melbourne led the game 22–0 at half time before holding off a late Penrith comeback to win 26–20, claiming their fourth premiership title. Melbourne fullback Ryan Papenhuyzen was awarded the Clive Churchill Medal as the official man of the match. The match was attended by 37,303 spectators due to an enforced limit to stadium capacity by the NSW government as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic in Australia. The game would be the last for Melbourne hooker and captain Cameron Smith after announcing his retirement in the following year, making him the most-capped player in the NRL with 430 games, and the most for a single club.

The 2021 NRL Grand Final was the conclusive and premiership-deciding game of the 2021 National Rugby League season in Australia. It was contested between the Penrith Panthers and the South Sydney Rabbitohs on Sunday 3 October at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane. Penrith won the match 14–12 to claim their third premiership title, and their first since 2003. Penrith co-captain and halfback Nathan Cleary was awarded the Clive Churchill Medal as the official man of the match.
