Gregory Alan Hartle (born February 14, 1951) is a former American football linebacker who played three seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals of the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted by the Cardinals in the tenth round of the 1974 NFL draft. He played college football at Newberry College and attended Newberry High School in Newberry, South Carolina. [1]

He played college football at the University of Notre Dame, where he won two national championships, was twice named a consensus All-American in 1947, and 1948, and was awarded the Outland Trophy, as the nation's top lineman in 1948. He was the first Mr. Irrelevant to make the NFL Pro Bowl, as the last pick in the 1948 NFL draft; Fischer was drafted by the Chicago Cardinals after his junior season at Notre Dame. He opted to stay in school, and won the Outland Trophy as the nation's top interior lineman in 1948. The Cardinals drafted him again in 1949, this time in the first round.
