Greg Thomson is an Australian former journalist. Thomson was a sports presenter and reporter for Sky News Australia [1] and Fox Sports News, until resigning in July 2018.

Career

Thomson is originally from Brisbane [2] and began his media career in 2007 at age 19, working for Southern Cross Austereo regional television stations, including Southern Cross Ten. [1] Between 2010 and 2013, Thomson moved to Canberra becoming sports editor and presenter at WIN Television. [3]

He moved to Melbourne in 2013 to join Sky News, remaining there for less than a year before becoming a freelance journalist. [2] As a freelancer, Thomson worked for Seven News , Nine News and A Current Affair as well as radio station Triple M. [4] [5]

Thomson re-joined Sky News in Sydney in October 2015. [4] He was initially sports presenter on Sunday Edition [6] [7] before becoming co-anchor of both Sunday Edition and Saturday Edition in 2018 [8] and reports for sister station Fox Sports News. [9]

Public meltdown

In July 2018 Thomson was suspended from Sky News pending an internal investigation for abusing guests at a charity fundraiser in Sydney. [10] He resigned a few days later. [11]

Nightline was an Australian late-night news bulletin television program produced by Nine News for Nine Network. Introduced in 1985 as a 5-minute late-night news summary before becoming a 30-minute bulletin in 1992, it was cancelled in 2008, then was brought back in 2009 before it was cancelled again in July 2010. It aired at around 11:30 pm on weeknights, but was not shown in Perth or Adelaide. Nightline was previously presented by Kellie Sloane. Its main competitors were Ten Late News and Sports Tonight and ABC News's Lateline, both of which aired prior to Nightline at 10:30 pm.

Nine News is the national news service of the Nine Network in Australia. Its flagship program is the hour-long 6:00 pm state bulletin, produced by Nine's owned-and-operated stations in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth and Darwin. National bulletins also air on weekday mornings, weekend afternoons and most nights of the week after 10:30pm. In addition, a supplementary regional news program for the Gold Coast in Queensland airs each weeknight as well as regional bulletins for Northern NSW and the Gold Coast under the name of NBN News air seven nights a week.

Today is an Australian breakfast television program, with an infotainment base, currently hosted by Karl Stefanovic and Sarah Abo and includes news and weather updates. It broadcast weekdays on the Nine Network. The show also has a weekend edition called Weekend Today.
