Grenchenberg Tunnel, Mont-de-Granges tunnel or Grenchenbergtunnel is a railway tunnel built between 1911 and 1915 connecting the town of Grenchen (SO) to Moutier (currently still in the Bernese Jura).
This rail link is of considerable importance since it is a passage from the Swiss plateau to the geographical Jura and Basel (Rhine town representing one of the strategic centers of the cross-border alliance "RegioTriRhena").
France having lost Alsace in 1871, international trains connecting France to Switzerland and Italy then took the Belfort-Berne axis, passing through Porrentruy, Delémont and Moutier. This tunnel should make it easier for them to reach the Swiss plateau. The French government contributed 10 million Swiss francs at the total cost of 26 million Swiss francs.

The Bern-Lötschberg-Simplon-Bahn (BLS), known between 1997 and 2006 as the BLS Lötschbergbahn, was a Swiss railway company. In 2006 the company merged with Regionalverkehr Mittelland AG to form a new company called BLS AG.

On 28 March 2021, the population voted to secede from the canton of Bern and join the Canton of Jura; the decision however is not immediately operative and entails a lengthy process of transfer of competences between cantonal authorities. It is currently the largest town in Jura bernois.

The Solothurn–Moutier railway line is a 22 kilometre-long standard-gauge line in Switzerland, connecting Solothurn via the Weissenstein Tunnel to Moutier in the Bernese Jura. At the start of operations in 1908, the Emmentalbahn took over operations of the line, which was owned by the Solothurn-Münster-Bahn. In 1997, it merged with the Emmental-Burgdorf-Thun-Bahn (EBT) and the Vereinigte Huttwil-Bahnen —which already worked together for the operation of trains—to form the Regionalverkehr Mittelland (RM), which then took over the operation of the line. Since a merger in 2006, the line has been part of BLS, while passenger services have been operated by the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) since 2010.

The Ligerz Tunnel is a railway tunnel under construction at the southern foot of the Jura Railway line in Switzerland. The last single-track section of the southern Jura line is to be eliminated by the double-track tunnel. This bottleneck between the service stations at Chavannes and Twann on the Biel–Neuchâtel route is currently preventing rail traffic from being densified. The planned costs amount to 431.9 million Swiss francs.
