Growth Research Unit

The Growth Research Unit (GRU) is a non-for-profit association headquartered in the international programmes office, at the Cracow University of Economics in Poland. The association operates as a multi-disciplinary platform, encouraging discussion and research into the strategic determinants of economic growth in respect of the former socialist countries of CE Europe and SE Asia. These goals are achieved through an annual conference meeting at which members contribute to round table discussion sessions and present research papers prior to release for publication.

Membership

GRU welcomes new members interested in working on challenging theoretical and applied economic issues as well as on related fields, which focus on the emerging countries of CE Europe and SE Asia.

Membership automatically provides full access to all research publications as well as the opportunity to meet other members with shared interests at our annual conference and round table sessions (October each year).

Culture of Kraków

Kraków is considered by many to be the cultural capital of Poland. It was named the European Capital of Culture by the European Union for the year 2000. The city has some of the best museums in the country and several famous theaters. It became the residence of two Polish Nobel laureates in literature: Wisława Szymborska and Czesław Miłosz, while a third Nobel laureate, the Yugoslav writer Ivo Andric also lived and studied in Krakow. It is also home to one of the world's oldest universities, the Jagiellonian University of Kraków.

Digital Classicist

The Digital Classicist is a community of those interested in the application of digital humanities to the field of classics and to ancient world studies more generally. The project claims the twin aims of bringing together scholars and students with an interest in computing and the ancient world, and disseminating advice and experience to the classics discipline at large. The Digital Classicist was founded in 2005 as a collaborative project based at King's College London and the University of Kentucky, with editors and advisors from the classics discipline at large.

Julian Aleksandrowicz Academic, physician

CeBIT computer expo

CeBIT was the largest and most internationally representative computer expo. The trade fair was held each year on the Hanover fairground, the world's largest fairground, in Hanover, Germany. SLinCA@Home was a research project that uses Internet-connected computers to do research in fields such as physics and materials science.

The Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing (GHC) is a series of conferences designed to bring the research and career interests of women in computing to the forefront. It is the world's largest gathering of women in computing. The celebration, named after computer scientist Grace Hopper, is organized by the Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology and the Association for Computing Machinery. The 2020 conference will be held in Orlando, Florida from September 29 – October 2.

European Communication Research and Education Association (ECREA) is a scholarly association centred on the study of "media, (tele)communications and informatics research, including relevant approaches of human and social sciences". It strives to promote quality of communication research and teaching in higher education across Europe. It counts more than 2700 individuals as members. At present, ECREA's legal seat is located in Brussels, Belgium. ECREA is similar in nature with other learned societies like the International Communication Association (ICA) and the International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR).

Łukasz Pawlikowski is a Polish cellist. He studied playing under Arto Noras, Jeroen Reuling, Witold Herman and Dorota Imiełowska. By the age of six he appears at the Kraków Poetry Salon. He is connected with the Juliusz Słowacki Theatre. Pawlikowski debuted in 2006 with the Beethoven Academy Orchestra in the Tempel Synagogue. Since then, he has collaborated with artists such as Anna Polony, Anna Dymna, Zofia Kucówna, Elżbieta Stefańska, Mariola Cieniawa, Jerzy Trela, Jerzy Stuhr and Kevin Kenner. Under direction of Krzysztof Penderecki he studied interpretation of his music. He performed as a soloist in Poland, Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Croatia.
