Karnas was born in 1972 in Wodzisław Śląski, Poland. He comes from a family without academic traditions of any kind. During his high school education he finished one year of classical guitar at the Szafrankowie Brothers State School of Music in Rybnik. He also spent eight years studying French, English and Arab languages, literatures and cultures at University of Mikołaj Kopernik in Toruń, English Teacher Training College in Cieszyn and Jagiellonian University in Kraków. Karnas is a graduate and a former teacher of the Jazz Institute of the Academy of Music in Katowice, considered prestigious in Poland.
Throughout his career he has worked with top-line artists of European jazz scene as well as some of its legends. In 1998, he was awarded first prize at the International Jazz Vocalists' Meeting in Zamość (Poland). The following year, his debut album "Reinkarnasja" (Not Two 2000) was released and put Karnas on the road touring at main jazz clubs and festivals in Poland and Slovakia. Summer of 2004 saw the premiere of Grzegorz Karnas' self-produced solo project "Sny/Dreams of a Ninth Floor" (DeBies). [1] Its promotion took place with a series of club and festival concerts in Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Germany and Romania. His composition "Dreams" featured on a compilation CD called "The Best of Polish Jazz 2005". [2] A new album "Ballads for the End of the World" [3] featuring a Silesian cello player Adam Oleś was released in April 2006. Promotions of both projects continued in 2007. In 2006 Karnas was awarded first prize at Young Jazz Singers Competition Brussels. In August 2007 he was a winner of Crest Jazz Vocal competition held yearly in Crest in southeastern France. [4] His album under the title "Karnas" [5] was released in 2011 by a Slovak label Hevhetia and his live performances from Budapest were produced and released by a Hungarian label BMC Records as "Audio Beads" (2012) [6] and "Vanga" (2014) making Karnas a distinctive element of European jazz vocal scene. A live album called "Power Kiss" (Hevhetia 2017) [7] was recorded during Karnas Formula's Chinese Tour in 2016.
Apart from performing Karnas occasionally lectures on improvisation. He conducted workshops in Poland, Germany, France, Czech Republic, Belgium, Denmark, Luxembourg, Slovakia, Hungary, Ukraine, Russia, Uzbekistan, China, Malaysia and Indonesia.
Karnas is the spiritus movens and the artistic director of the Voicingers Festival - his brain child born in 2008.

Lombard is a Polish pop-rock band founded in 1981. The bandleader is Grzegorz Stróżniak – composer, arranger, and vocalist who also plays the keyboards. For over 35 years, he has given the band its original pop-rock character, combining expressive guitar sound with a full range of keyboards and electronics. In the first decade of its activity, Lombard cooperated with many instrumentalists and two vocalists: Wanda Kwietniewska and Małgorzata Ostrowska, who then decided to pursue their solo career. In 1999, Marta Cugier became the band’s lead singer. Over the years, Lombard has featured various line-ups, but the longest-standing members include Marta Cugier – vocal, Grzegorz Stróżniak – leader, vocal, keyboards, Daniel Patalas – guitar, Michał Kwapisz – bass, and Mirosław Kamiński – drums. The band has published several albums and still surprises its fans with a variety of its musical faces. The band boasts a number of well-known and well-liked hits, including the legendary “Przeżyj to sam” and “Szklana pogoda”, as well as the latest “Deja'vu – to już było” and “Musical”. In the 1980s, the band collaborated with external lyricists: Jacek Skubikowski, Marek Dutkiewicz, and Andrzej Sobczak. At present, the lyrics for the band are written by vocalist Marta Cugier. LOMBARD has played several thousand concerts in Poland and for Poles around the world.

Awarded Magister of Music at Fryderyk Chopin University of Music, Warsaw. Szukalski was a revered master of tenor saxophone and his style was often compared to that of John Coltrane and Ben Webster.

The Friendship Match is a term used by media and both football clubs for games between Polish football clubs Lechia Gdańsk and Śląsk Wrocław. While there have been longer "friendships" in Polish football, such as Polonia Warsaw and Cracovia having relations since the 1920s and officially since the 1960s, their decision to end their friendship agreement in 2017 meant that the agreement between Lechia and Śląsk became the longest current friendship in Polish football. The Friendship has officially been in place since 1977, with the friendship linking back to 1976. The friendship came into fruition in 1976 after Śląsk Wrocław fans traveled to northern Poland to watch Śląsk play against Gwardia Koszalin, a team who has strong links with Arka Gdynia, the main rival of Lechia Gdańsk. During meetings between the two clubs there is no segregation between fans, as in normal football matches, with both sets of fans often being involved with displays of banners and tifo.
