Parliamentary elections were held in Guernsey on 23 April 2008 [1] to elect 45 candidates. 18,576 voters or 40.58% of the eligible population of 45,772 turned out and cast a total of 89,239 votes; there were 10 blank papers, 35 spoilt papers and on average 4.8 votes were cast. Of the 28 standing deputies all but two (Brian de Jersey and Wendy Morgan), were re-elected to the house; this means that 19 of the Deputies-Elect are new to the chamber. Five of the 12 candidates who had stood unsuccessfully in 2004 were elected in 2008.
Guernsey is an island in the English Channel off the coast of Normandy. It lies roughly north of Saint-Malo and to the west of Jersey and the Cotentin Peninsula. With several smaller nearby islands, it forms a jurisdiction within the Bailiwick of Guernsey, a British Crown dependency. The jurisdiction is made up of ten parishes on the island of Guernsey, three other inhabited islands, and many small islets and rocks.
Wendy Morgan is a former Deputy in the States of Guernsey, the parliament of the Bailiwick of Guernsey in the Channel Islands.
The candidate who polled the most votes was first time candidate Matt Fallaize standing in the Vale, who received 2,322 and becomes the youngest member of the house at 26. [2]

Martin Storey was a Channel Islander politician who served as a deputy in the States of Guernsey from 2008 until his death on July 22, 2015, representing the St Peter Port North constituency. He also served as Deputy Minister of the Health and Social Services Department, and a member of the Housing and Commerce and Employment Departments and on the Public Accounts Committee during his tenure in the States.

Sark is an island in the Channel Islands in the southwestern English Channel, off the coast of Normandy, France. It is a royal fief, which forms part of the Bailiwick of Guernsey, with its own set of laws based on Norman law and its own parliament. It has a population of about 500. Sark has an area of 2.10 square miles (5.44 km2).

Sir Philip Martin Bailhache, KBE is a Jersey politician and lawyer. He was elected as a Senator in the States of Jersey in October 2011 and serves as an Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister. He previously held elected office as Deputy of Grouville 1972-1975. Between 1975 and 2009, he successively held office as Solicitor General, Attorney General, Deputy Bailiff and Bailiff of Jersey.
The States of Guernsey is the parliament of the British Crown dependency of Guernsey. Some laws and ordinances approved by the States of Guernsey also apply to Alderney and Sark as "Bailiwick-wide legislation" with the consent of the governments of those islands. All enactments of the States of Guernsey apply to Herm as well as Guernsey, since Herm is wholly owned by the States of Guernsey.
The Chief Minister of Guernsey chaired the Policy Council, which consists of the heads of each of the ten departments of the States of Guernsey. Guernsey operates a system of consensus, committees-based government. The Policy Council is explicitly not a cabinet and has relatively little executive authority compared to a cabinet; instead, its main function is policy co-ordination. The Chief Minister also spoke for the island externally in political matters.

General elections to the States of Guernsey were held on 18 April 2012 to elect 45 candidates. 78 candidates stood for the 45 seats. A total of 29,745 people, or about two-thirds of the population of Guernsey and Herm, registered to vote. There were 20,459 voters, with 81 blank papers and 65 spoilt papers, amended to 71 blank and 72 spoilt after the two recounts. Only five women were elected in 2012. There was a by-election in December 2015 in St Peter Port North.

The Green Party of England and Wales leadership election, 2012 took place in August and September 2012. The party has elections every two years for Leader and Deputy Leader roles and this was the third election since the party decided to switch from having principal speakers to having a leader and a deputy leader, or co-leaders. In May 2012, Caroline Lucas announced that she would not seek re-election.
General elections were held in Guernsey on 27 April 2016 to elect the 38 members of the States to serve until 2020.
