General elections to the States of Guernsey were held on 18 April 2012 [1] to elect 45 candidates. [2] 78 candidates stood for the 45 seats. [3] A total of 29,745 people, or about two-thirds of the population of Guernsey and Herm, registered to vote. There were 20,459 voters, with 81 blank papers and 65 spoilt papers, amended to 71 blank and 72 spoilt after the two recounts. Only five women were elected in 2012. There was a by-election in December 2015 in St Peter Port North.
The States of Guernsey is the parliament of the British Crown dependency of Guernsey. Some laws and ordinances approved by the States of Guernsey also apply to Alderney and Sark as "Bailiwick-wide legislation" with the consent of the governments of those islands. All enactments of the States of Guernsey apply to Herm as well as Guernsey, since Herm is wholly owned by the States of Guernsey.

Saint Peter Port North is an electoral district in Guernsey in the Channel Islands. It was created following the Machinery of Government changes which came into effect in 2004.
Martin Storey was a Channel Islander politician who served as a deputy in the States of Guernsey from 2008 until his death on July 22, 2015, representing the St Peter Port North constituency. He also served as Deputy Minister of the Health and Social Services Department, and a member of the Housing and Commerce and Employment Departments and on the Public Accounts Committee during his tenure in the States.

Peter Harwood is a Guernsean lawyer who was the Chief Minister of Guernsey from 1 May 2012 until 25 February 2014. West District 3,148 or 76% turnout

For the by-election of 2 December 2015 in St Peter Port North, 3,224 residents were eligible to vote, a reduction to 86% of those who had been eligible for the 2012 election. There was some controversy over holding a by-election as the cost is estimated at £51,100 to elect someone to sit as a deputy for just five months, especially when the number of deputies and therefore seats will be reduced in April 2016. There were three by-election candidates, Charles Parkinson, David Noakes and Mike Henderson, with the polling stations open from 8am to 8pm. There were 3,220 registered voters and the turnout was 882 (27%). Charles Parkinson won with 571 votes, Mike Henderson received 184 and David Noakes 109, with 4 blank papers and 15 spoilt papers. [7]

"None of the above", or NOTA for short, also known as "against all" or a "scratch" vote, is a ballot option in some jurisdictions or organizations, designed to allow the voter to indicate disapproval of the candidates in a voting system. It is based on the principle that consent requires the ability to withhold consent in an election, just as they can by voting "No" on ballot questions.

Elections were held in 2005 for both Senators and Deputies to the States of Jersey.
In voting, a ballot is considered spoilt, spoiled, void, null, informal, invalid or stray if a law declares or an election authority determines that it is invalid and thus not included in the vote count. This may occur accidentally or deliberately. The total number of spoilt votes in a United States election has been called the residual vote. In Australia, such votes are generally referred to as informal votes, and in Canada they are referred to as rejected votes.
General elections were held in Zambia on 28 September 2006 to elect a President, members of the National Assembly and local government councillors. The result was a victory for the ruling Movement for Multi-Party Democracy, which won 75 of the 150 National Assembly seats and whose candidate, Levy Mwanawasa, won the presidential vote. Voter turnout was just over 70%.

Parliamentary elections were held in Guernsey on 23 April 2008 to elect 45 candidates. 18,576 voters or 40.58% of the eligible population of 45,772 turned out and cast a total of 89,239 votes; there were 10 blank papers, 35 spoilt papers and on average 4.8 votes were cast. Of the 28 standing deputies all but two, were re-elected to the house; this means that 19 of the Deputies-Elect are new to the chamber. Five of the 12 candidates who had stood unsuccessfully in 2004 were elected in 2008.
Parliamentary elections were held in Tonga on 23 and 24 April 2008 to elect members of the Legislative Assembly. The nobles were elected on 23 April, and the nine people's representatives on 24 April. A total of 32,000 people turned out to vote, giving a turnout of 48%.

The Green Party of England and Wales leadership election, 2012 took place in August and September 2012. The party has elections every two years for Leader and Deputy Leader roles and this was the third election since the party decided to switch from having principal speakers to having a leader and a deputy leader, or co-leaders. In May 2012, Caroline Lucas announced that she would not seek re-election.
The 2015 Northampton Borough Council election took place on 7 May 2015 as a four-yearly public decision to elect all members of the council. This took place on the same day as other local elections and the United Kingdom general election, 2015 - when there is a general election on the same day as the local elections, turnout across the country is with fewer than 1% of exceptions higher than if there is no general election. Voters could cast between one and three votes depending on the number of councillors per ward.
General elections were held in Guernsey on 27 April 2016 to elect the 38 members of the States to serve until 2020.
The 2016 United States presidential election in Wisconsin took place on November 8, 2016, as part of the 2016 general election in which all fifty states and the District of Columbia participated. Wisconsin voters also chose electors to represent them in the Electoral College via a popular vote.
