Gul Bukhari is a British-Pakistani journalist and columnist. [2] She has been residing in UK since December 2018. [3] [4] [5]

In June 2018, she was abducted for few hours by unknown personnel from Lahore's cantonment area, which has heavy army presence and security checks controlled by the military. A colleague of her alleged that uniformed men were present at her abduction. [2] [6]

Early life and education

Bukhari was born to a military family in 1966. Her father, Major General Rehmat Ali Shah Bukhari, was a Pakistan Army general and was decorated in 1971 for Battle of Bahawalnagar. [7]

Bukhari is a graduate of Kinnaird College for Women and Lahore University of Management Sciences.

The State of Israel and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan have never had formal diplomatic relations. In 1947, Pakistan voted against the United Nations Partition Plan for Palestine, and currently does not recognize Israeli sovereignty. Despite the Pakistani position on the Arab–Israeli conflict, there have been multiple instances of the two countries closely cooperating during events such as the Soviet–Afghan War and the Black September conflict. With regard to the Israeli–Palestinian conflict, Pakistan supports the Palestinian Arabs and endorses the two-state solution. The Pakistani government has maintained that it will not pursue a normalized relationship with Israel until the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the pre-1967 borders and with East Jerusalem as the Palestinians' capital city. Nevertheless, with Turkey serving as their middle ground, Israel and Pakistan have used their embassies and consulates-general in the cities of Ankara and Istanbul to communicate and exchange necessary information with each other. In 2010, the Pakistani newspaper Dawn reported that Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence, following up on reports received in Washington, had gone through Ankara to pass on newly discovered information to Israel's Mossad about an upcoming terrorist attack in Mumbai, India, where a Jewish cultural centre was listed as a major target; this information first surfaced on WikiLeaks one year after the 2008 Mumbai attacks were carried out by Lashkar-e-Taiba, a Pakistan-based terrorist organization.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif is a Pakistani politician, currently serving as the 20th Chief Minister of Punjab, in office since 26 February 2024. She is the daughter of former Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif and her initial involvement in public life was through her family’s philanthropic organisations. However, her political career began in earnest in 2012 when she took charge of the election campaign for the 2013 general elections. Following the elections, she was appointed as the Chairperson of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme in 2013. She was honoured with Tamgha-e-Imtiaz by the government of Pakistan.

Mehnaz, known professionally as Gul Panra, is a Pakistani folk singer and touring artist, mainly associated with Pashto language music industry. Her live concerts are famous in Pakistan and she has also performed in the United Kingdom and Afghanistan. She has been serving as a brand ambassador of her home cricket team Peshawar Zalmi in Pakistan Super League, and has sung several anthems for the team since its inception in 2016.

Aima Noor-ul Ain Baig is a Pakistani singer. She is known for her appearances on Dunya News' program Mazaaq Raat from 2015 to 2017. She rose to fame from her songs in Lahore Se Aagey (2016), after which she gained popularity through many other soundtracks and her appearance in Coke Studio. She was awarded Tamgha-e-Fakhre-Imtiaz in August 2019.

The Establishment, also known as military establishment, is a term used in Pakistan which refers to the deep state cooperation of the Pakistan Armed Forces, the Pakistani intelligence community, and other pro-military government officials and civilians. Responsible for various military coups, the military-dominated Establishment has directly ruled Pakistan for nearly half of its existence since its creation in 1947, while frequently exerting covert dominance over the political leadership during the remainder. Muhammad Aun Saqlain Chaudhry is a Pakistani politician who has been a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan since February 2024. He was also an advisor to the Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif on tourism and sports from April 2022 to August 2023.
