The Gulf Coast League Cubs, or GCL Cubs, were a minor league baseball team that played in the Gulf Coast League from 1972 to 1982 and again from 1993 to 1996. The team was affiliated with the Chicago Cubs and won GCL titles in 1972 and 1974.

He had first joined the New York Yankees organization in 1996, spending three seasons as the pitching coach at Triple-A Columbus (1996–98). He spent three seasons as a major league pitching coach with the Chicago Cubs (2000-01) and the Texas Rangers (2002).

The GCL Red Birds were a second team established in the Gulf Coast League as an affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals, from 1972-1973. The club played alongside the Cardinals' other affiliate, the Gulf Coast Cardinals. A frequent designated hitter for the Red Birds was Randy Poffo, who would become famous as wrestler Randy "Macho Man" Savage.
The Orange Hoo–Hoos were a minor league baseball team based in Orange, Texas. In 1907 and 1908, the Hoo–Hoos played as members of the Class D level Gulf Coast League, before the league folded during the 1908 season. Orange hosted minor league home games at Orange City Park.
