Gundoinings

Last updated

The Gundoinings (also spelled Gundionids) were an aristocratic faction active in the Kingdom of Austrasia during the early 7th century. They appear in the political struggles surrounding the reign of Dagobert I and the minority of Sigebert III, where they are portrayed as rivals of the rising Arnulfing–Pippinid family. [1]

Members of the Gundoining faction are referenced in the Chronicle of Fredegar and its continuations, which record their involvement in Austrasian court politics and regional power disputes. [2]
