Lund University is a public research university in Sweden and one of northern Europe's oldest universities. The university is located in the city of Lund in the province of Scania, Sweden. It traces its roots back to 1425, when a Franciscan studium generale was founded in Lund. After Sweden won Scania from Denmark in the 1658 Treaty of Roskilde, the university was officially founded in 1666 on the location of the old studium generale next to Lund Cathedral.

Elisabeth Östnäs, is a Swedish writer. She made her debut in 2012 with the horror novel Feberflickan, which takes place in Lund in the 1890s. Her historical youth fantasy trilogy Sagan om Turid, earned her the Slangbellan Award for best new Swedish writer of children's and youth literature. Sagan om Turid has also been adapted as a radio drama for Swedish public radio.
Gunilla Palmstierna-Weiss was a Swedish costume designer, scenic designer, sculptor, ceramist, and actress. She won the 1966 Tony Award for Best Costume Design for her work on Peter Weiss's Marat/Sade (1963). She has designed sets and costumes for numerous theaters internationally, including the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Royal Swedish Opera. From 1966 to 1989, she worked regularly as a set and costume designer for Ingmar Bergman. She also collaborated as a designer with directors Fritz Kortner and Peter Brook.
Märta Gunilla Matilda af Ekenstam (1880–1939) was Sweden's first female silversmith and creative metal worker. In 1913, after studying in Munich, she established her own studio in Malmö where she worked in the Jugendstil with materials including gold, silver, ivory and copper. In 1928, she married Carl Jarming who ran an art firm in Malmö. The two emigrated to the United States, settling in Pasadena. She exhibited at the 1937 World Fair in Paris and the 1939 World Fair in New York. Works by Ekenstam are in the permanent collection of Sweden's National Museum.
