Gurdeep Singh is a Pakistani politician who is currently serving as a member of the Senate of Pakistan from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa since March 2021. He belongs to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. [1] [2] [3] He is also the first Pakistani Sikh to be elected as a Senator in the Senate of Pakistan.
Sikhism,also known as Sikhi,is an Indian religion and philosophy that originated in the Punjab region of the Indian subcontinent around the end of the 15th century CE. It is one of the most recently founded major religions and among the largest in the world with about 25–30 million adherents.
The Khalistan movement is an independence movement seeking to create a separate homeland for Sikhs by establishing an ethno‐religious sovereign state called Khalistan in the Punjab region. The proposed boundaries of Khalistan vary between different groups;some suggest the entirety of the Sikh-majority Indian state of Punjab,while larger claims include Pakistani Punjab and other parts of North India such as Chandigarh,Haryana,and Himachal Pradesh. Ranjit Singh was the founder and first maharaja of the Sikh Empire,ruling from 1801 until his death in 1839. He ruled the northwest Indian subcontinent in the early half of the 19th century. The Sikh Empire was a regional power based in the Punjab region of the Indian subcontinent. It existed from 1799,when Maharaja Ranjit Singh captured Lahore,to 1849,when it was defeated and conquered by the British East India Company in the Second Anglo-Sikh War. It was forged on the foundations of the Khalsa from a collection of autonomous misls. It was divided into four provinces:Lahore,which became the Sikh capital;Multan;Peshawar;and Kashmir from 1799 to 1849. Religiously diverse,with an estimated population of 4.5 million in 1831,it was the last major region of the Indian subcontinent to be annexed by the British Empire.
Baldev Singh was an Indian Sikh political leader,he was an Indian independence movement leader and the first Defence Minister of India. Moreover,he represented the Punjabi Sikh community in the processes of negotiations that resulted in the independence of India,as well as the Partition of India in 1947.
Tara Singh was a Sikh political and religious figure in India in the first half of the 20th century. He was instrumental in organising the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee and guiding the Sikhs during the partition of India,which he strongly opposed.

The Pew Research Center estimated the Sikh American adult population to be 140,000 and the total population at 200,000 in 2012 while the World Religion Database at Boston University estimated the American Sikh population to be at 280,000 in 2012. Sikh organizations like the Sikh Coalition and American Sikh Congressional Caucus estimate the Sikh American population to be as high as 1,000,000,but do not provide any sources for these figures;500,000 nevertheless remains the most cited Sikh American population size. With 1% of Asian Americans being Sikh,and 90.7% of Sikh Americans being Asian American,the American Sikh population can be estimated at around 200,000–300,000 in 2021. The largest Sikh populations in the U.S. are found in California (52%),New York (11%),and Washington (6%).
Sardar Gurbachan Singh was a Sikh scholar,professor,and author. He was born in Moonak,Sangrur district. He was a lecturer at the Sikh National College at Lahore. At the Banaras Hindu University he held the Guru Nanak Chair of Sikh Studies. He received the Padma Bhushan in 1985. He received in 1985 the National fellowship by the Indian Council of Historical Research,New Delhi.

Governor Ujjal Singh was an Indian politician who was a participant in the First Round Table Conference,opened officially by King George V on 12 November 1930. Ujjal Singh served as the Finance Minister of Punjab,Governor of Punjab,followed by acting Governor of Tamil Nadu. Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur,also called Kartarpur Sahib,is a gurdwara in Kartarpur,located in Shakargarh,Narowal District,in the Punjab province of Pakistan. It is built on the historic site where the founder of Sikhism,Guru Nanak,settled and assembled the Sikh community after his missionary travels and lived for 18 years until his death in 1539. It is one of the holiest sites in Sikhism,alongside the Golden Temple in Amritsar and Gurdwara Janam Asthan in Nankana Sahib.
Bhangra is a type of traditional folk dance of Punjab area of the Indian subcontinent. It is done in the season of harvesting. According to Manuel (2001),bhangra is especially associated with the vernal Vaisakhi festival,performed during harvest season between April and the first quarter of May.

The Janjua or Janjhua is a Punjabi Rajput clan found predominantly in the Pothohar Plateau of Pakistani Punjab,but also in the states of Punjab and Haryana in India.
The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) is a centre-right Sikh-centric state political party in Punjab,India. The party is the second-oldest in India,after Congress,being founded in 1920. Although there are many parties with the description Akali Dal,the party that is recognized as "Shiromani Akali Dal" by the Election Commission of India is the one led by Sukhbir Singh Badal. The party has a moderate Punjabi agenda. On 26 September 2020,it left the National Democratic Alliance over the farm bills.
The 2021 Pakistani Senate election was held on 3 March 2021. The Election commission of Pakistan announced the election schedule on 11 February 2021. 52 of the 104 Senators had retired on 7 February 2021. After the merger of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas with Khyber Pakhtunkhawa,FATA seats were abolished and there was no election on 4 of the 8 seats. The rest of the 4 seats will be abolished in 2024. Official results of the Senate Elections were announced by the Election Commission of Pakistan on 10 March 2021.
Elections for the Senate of Pakistan were held on 2 April 2024. Senate elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were postponed by the ECP.
