Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora, subtitled looking up at the half-moon and also known as Hantsuki, is a Japanese romance light novel series written by Tsumugu Hashimoto and illustrated by Keiji Yamamoto centering on two hospitalized seventeen year olds and the love they begin to share. Guren (紅蓮) is a Japanese word meaning "crimson-colored lotus" commonly encountered in the West when used in an artistic connotation. In Japan, Guren (紅蓮) is "crimson-colored (紅) lotus flower (蓮の花)". It is compared to the color of a flame of a burning fire. In Buddhist terminology, Guren is also an abbreviation for Guren Jigoku (紅蓮地獄), which is the seventh of The Eight Cold Hells. Those who fell here after death, it is said that the skin is torn due to severe cold, and the blood looks like a crimson-colored lotus flower. The 10th century Juichimen Kannon may have had a water jar of Guren in its right hand.

"Guren" is the 13th maxi-single by the Japanese rock band, The Gazette. It was released on February 13, 2008 in two editions; the "Optical Impression" edition, "Auditory Impression" edition. The first includes the songs "Guren" and "Kugutsue"- it also includes a DVD containing the music video for the song "Guren". The second comes with a bonus track, "Kyomu No Owari Hakozume No Mokuji".
