Gwyllion was a symphonic power metal band from Kortrijk, Belgium, that was active from 2003 to 2009. Founded by singer Annelore Vantomme and drummer Wouter Debonnet, the band released two studio albums before it split up.
In 2004, they recorded a demo Forever Denying the Never with interim singer Valerie Vanhoutte. Two years later, the band decided to look for a different singer and Annelore Vantomme joined them again; also a second guitarist was taken in. With this line-up they recorded a full-length studio album Awakening the Dream which was published in 2007. It was a self-release in Europe and was published by Rubicon Music in Japan. It received positive reviews by the Mindview magazine and others. The same year, Gwyllion played as opening acts for After Forever, Diablo Swing Orchestra and Haggard.
A second studio album, The Edge of All I Know, was produced in 2008 in Sweden by Jens Bogren who has also worked with acts like Opeth, Pain Of Salvation and Katatonia. [1] In late 2008, the band signed with the German label Black Bards Entertainment to release the album in Europe. In Japan, the album was again released by Rubicon. Shortly before the release in 2009, singer Vantomme had to leave the band for personal reasons and was quickly replaced by Ann van Rooy. [2] The album was lauded by the German music press, e.g. by Metal Hammer [1] and Sonic Seducer . The latter marked a reminiscence of early works by Nightwish or Epica, and praised the aesthetics of the songs. [3]
After the release of The Edge of All I Know in 2009, the band received airplay in Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and America. Later that year they played at the Celtic Rock Open Air in Germany. [4] In autumn 2009, singer Ann van Rooy and the other band members decided to part ways. Shortly after, it was decided to end the Gwyllion project.

Originally counted among the bands of the Neue Deutsche Todeskunst genre, Lacrimosa are most associated with the gothic metal genre.

For the majority of their career, the lineup featured Martin Smith on vocals and guitar, Stu G on guitar and backing vocals, Jon Thatcher on bass guitar, Tim Jupp on keys and piano, and Stew Smith on drums and percussion. During their final two years, drumming duties were assumed by Paul Evans.
After Forever was a Dutch symphonic metal band with strong progressive metal influences. The band relied on the use of both soprano vocals and death growls.
Tristania was a Norwegian gothic metal band formed in 1996 by Morten Veland, Einar Moen and Kenneth Olsson. Tristania's music is usually classified as Gothic metal with death influences, due to its strong tie and legacy within the gothic metal history. Their songs largely dealt with dark and sentimental topics, including depression, sadness, suicide, love, absence, and anger.
Carach Angren is a Dutch symphonic black metal band, founded in 2003 by two members of the now-defunct bands Inger Indolia and Vaultage. Their style is characterized by prominent usage of orchestral arrangements, black metal vocals, and guitar riffs. Their studio albums are concept albums with lyrics based on ghost stories and folklore, such as the Flying Dutchman. The band sets itself apart from other symphonic black metal artists with the usage of multiple languages such as English, French, German, and Dutch. Most songs are based on English, with transitions into other languages during chorus and bridge sections.
Leaves' Eyes is a symphonic metal band from Germany and Norway. They were formed in 2003 by Liv Kristine, formerly the lead singer of Theatre of Tragedy, and the entire line-up of Atrocity. To date, the band has released eight studio albums, a single, six EPs, one live album and a DVD.
Hatesex is an American, Los Angeles–based goth rock band, founded by former Diva Destruction guitarist Benn Ra and vocalist Krisanna Marie.
Ancient Rites is a Belgian black metal band formed in 1988. Initially, the lineup consisted of guitar players Johan and Phillip, drummer Stefan, and Gunther Theys on bass and vocals. In 1990 the Dark Ritual demo was released in the underground scene, getting worldwide attention just as black metal was gaining importance in the metal scene. Soon after the release of this demo Phillip died in a car crash and not long after, Stefan committed suicide. However painful this episode was to the band, they decided to continue and Stefan's position was taken by his drum roadie Walter van Cortenberg.
Markus H. J. Jansen is a Dutch guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter. A prominent figure in the symphonic metal subgenre, he is known for his work with the bands After Forever (1995–2002), Epica (2002–present), and MaYaN (2010–present).

Crossing the Rubicon is the third studio album by the Swedish new wave band The Sounds, released on 2 June 2009. On 17 April 2009, the first single "No One Sleeps When I'm Awake" was released on iTunes worldwide. The album was available to Spotify Premium customers from 29 May, and it was officially released 2 June. The second single, "Beatbox" was released on 12 January 2010 on iTunes exclusively. The track "Home Is Where Your Heart Is" is featured on the second part of the 5th season of the MTV reality show The Hills. "No One Sleeps When I'm Awake" is featured on episode eight, season one of The Vampire Diaries. "No One Sleeps When I'm Awake" was given a notable cover version by Miss Li.
