Men's and Women's Artistic Gymnastics have been contested at the Pan American Games since the 1951 edition. In 1987, Rhythmic Gymnastics was introduced. In 2007, Trampoline was added to the program.
At the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, three different gymnastics disciplines were contested: artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics and trampoline. The artistic gymnastics events were held on October 24–29. The rhythmic gymnastics events were held on October 21–24. The trampoline events were held on October 16–19. All three events were held at the Nissan Gymnastics Stadium.

Angélica Cristine Kvieczynski, better known as Angélica Kvieczynski, is an individual Brazilian rhythmic gymnast. She competed in the 2007 Pan American Games, won a silver medal and three bronze medal in the 2011 Pan American Games, won six gold medals in the 2010 South American Games and won the Prêmio Brasil Olímpico once. Now she is a coach for junior gymnasts.

Laura Yihan Zeng is an American individual rhythmic gymnast. She is a 2016 Rio Olympian, the 2015 Pan American Games all-around champion and the 2014 Youth Olympic all-around bronze medalist. She is also a multi-time medalist in world-cup competitions and the World University Games. At the national level, she is the five-time (2015–19) U.S. national all-around champion and two-time (2013–14) U.S. junior all-around national champion.
Gymnastics competitions at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto were held from 11 to 20 July at the Ricoh Coliseum; due to naming rights the venue was known as the Toronto Coliseum for the duration of the games. The competition was split into three disciplines, artistic, rhythmic and trampoline. Women competed in all three disciplines whereas the men only took part in the artistic and trampoline competitions.

The competition was organized by the Mexican Gymnastics Federation and approved by the International Gymnastics Federation.
Natália Azevedo Gaudio is a Brazilian individual rhythmic gymnast. She is the 2018 South American Games all-around gold medalist, and the 2019 Pan American Games all-around bronze medalist.
