H. K. Narasimhamurthy is a Carnatic violinist.
Sri H.K.Narasimha Murthy is a senior and leading violinist hailing from Mysore. He has earned the respect of fellow musicians, critics, students and music-lovers alike, both as an extremely able performer and as a highly accomplished teacher. [1]
Sri Narasimha Murthy's acumen was shaped by his training in the revered Parur school of violin. He had the good fortune of learning under Sri Parur Sundaram Iyer, and later from his illustrious sons Sri M.S.Anantharaman and the legendary Sri M.S.Gopalakrishnan. He also came under the influence of many great musicians of the day, during his education at the Central College of Music, Madras, from where he obtained the degree of Sangeetha Vidwan.
Sri Narasimha Murthy's abilities were recognized early. He won the first prize at the prestigious All India Radio competition, nearly forty years ago. He has since served the organization with great distinction, having been employed as Staff Artiste at AIR, Mysore for several years, earning its ‘A-Top’ grade.
Sri Murthy has, throughout his career, enriched music concerts with his violin accompaniment. His playing technique is marked by great dexterity and unfailing support born out of deep understanding of the main musician. He is a veritable bridge between the past and present generations of musicians and music-lovers, having accompanied a long list of unforgettable stalwarts of yesteryear, including Sri Maharajapuram Viswanatha Iyer, Sri Chembai Vaidyanatha Bhagavathar, Sri Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer, Smt.D.K.Pattamal, Sri D. K. Jayaraman, and many of the living legends such as Dr.M. Balamuralikrishna, Sri K.J.Yesudas, Sri T.V.Shankaranarayan, Sri T. N. Seshagopalan, Sri K.S.Gopalakrishnan and the Bombay Sisters, Smt.Saroja and Smt. Lalitha. He has also won many fans abroad, beginning with his debut visit to the USA about thirty years ago, accompanying the Bombay Sisters.
The lofty credentials of ‘HKN sir’, as he is popularly and respectfully known, continue to serve posterity, by way of preserving the art, especially the Parur style of violin, through his dedicated teaching. He is one of those rare combinations of a very distinguished performer and an exceptional Guru. His exemplary sincerity and humility, and the virtue of giving selflessly and lovingly, mark him out as an Acharya worthy of emulation. He epitomises the traits of a true preceptor. It is an acknowledged fact that mastering the art of playing the violin is a challenge in itself. It is an even bigger challenge to impart that mastery to one's students. The present generation of Carnatic Music is fortunate in that Sri Murthy has trained a large number of very competent violinists, many of whom hold their own at the highest levels of concert performance today. It is indeed a matter of immense gratification that the likes of Sri HKN's son Sri H.N. Bhaskar, Sri Mysore Srikanth and Kum.H.M. Smitha have already established their names in the present competitive world of music. More than fifty of his disciples are professional musicians.
Adding to his impressive contributions to the cause of music is his role in founding the Sri Thyagaraja Sangeetha Sabha, which he has served with great devotion for over two decades and a half, making it one of the most respected organisations in Mysore.
H.K.Narasimha Murthy has won several awards such as "VISHESHA ACHARYA" award and "The Pappa Venkataramiah Award". [2]

Harikesanallur Muthiah Bhagavatar, commonly known as Muthiah Bhagavatar, is one of Carnatic classical music's famous twentieth-century composers. He also created about 20 ragas.
Lalgudi Gopala Iyer Jayaraman was an Indian Carnatic violinist, vocalist and composer. He is commonly grouped with M.S. Gopalakrishnan and T.N.Krishnan as part of the violin-trinity of Carnatic Music. He was awarded Padma Bhushan by the Government of India in 2001.
Chembai Vaidyanatha Bhagavatar a.k.a. Vaidyanatha Iyer was a Carnatic music singer from Palakkad. Known by his village name Chembai, or simply as Bhagavatar, he was born to Anantha Bhagavatar and Parvati Ammal in 1896, into a Tamil Brahmin family in Perakkool Madom, adjacent to Lokanarkavu near Vatakara on Janmashtami day. He lived here until he was five years old. The family later shifted to Palakkad. Chembai was noted for his powerful voice and majestic style of singing. His first public performance was in 1904, when he was nine. A recipient of several titles and honours, he was known for his encouragement of upcoming musicians and ability to spot new talent. He was responsible for popularising compositions like Rakshamam Saranagatam and Pavana Guru, among others. The music critic 'Aeolus' described him as "the musician who has meant the most to Carnatic Music in the first fifty years of the 20th century." His prominent disciples include Chembai Narayana Bhagavathar, Mangu Thampuran, Guruvayur Ponnammal, T. V. Gopalakrishnan, V. V. Subramaniam, P. Leela, K. G. Jayan, K. G. Vijayan, K. J. Yesudas, Kudumaru Venkataraman and Babu Parameswaran, among others. He also mentored many young accompanists, including Palghat Mani Iyer, Lalgudi Jayaraman, M. S. Gopalakrishnan, T. N. Krishnan, Palani Subramaniam Pillai and L. Subramaniam. Memorial music festivals have been held in his honour annually since his death in 1974, the most important being the annually celebrated Chembai Sangeetholsavam.
M.S. Gopalakrishnan, a.k.a. MSG, was a violinist in the field of Carnatic music. He is commonly grouped with Lalgudi Jayaraman and T.N.Krishnan as part of the violin-trinity of Carnatic Music. He was awarded the Madras Music Academy's Sangeetha Kalanidhi in 1997. He was a recipient of the Padma Bhushan, Padma Shri, Kalaimamani, Sangeetha Kalanidhi and Sangeet Natak Akademi awards.
Dr. Umayalpuram Kasiviswanatha Sivaraman is a Carnatic mridanga vidwan. He was awarded the Madras Music Academy's Sangeetha Kalanidhi in 2001. He is the son of Sri P. Kasiviswanatha Iyer and Srimati Kamalambal. His father was a medical doctor by profession but encouraged his musical pursuits. He is married to Abhirami Sivaraman and has two sons S.Swaminathan and S.Sivakumar. Both his sons are married and his daughters-in-law are Shanthi Swaminathan, Shashi Sivakumar. He has 2 grandsons Vignesh Swaminathan, Aditya Swaminathan and a granddaughter Aparna Sivakumar.

Nagai Muralidharan is a Carnatic violinist from India. He was awarded Kalaimamani by the State Government of Tamil Nadu in 2003.

Mohanan Chandrasekaran is a Carnatic classical violinist from Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. He was born in Calcutta, in 1939 December 11 as the younger of the two sons of T.N. Mohan and Charubala Mohan, a violinist herself. He was awarded the Madras Music Academy's Sangeetha Kalanidhi in 2005. Chandrasekharan began playing the violin at the age of 11, after which he went on to accompany many musicians in the field of Carnatic music. Having lost his eyesight at the age of two, he overcame his difficulty by music. He is also considered an expert in the laya (tempo) aspects, recognizing and adapting to intricate rhythmic patterns. Sri Chandrasekharan also presents vocal concerts, and sometimes sings along during his solo violin recitals. He has composed various musical forms in different languages, and has travelled the world performing. He often performs violin duet concerts with his daughter Smt. G. Bharathi. He has accompanied several masters of Carnatic music including Maharajapuram Santhanam, G. N. Balasubramaniam, Madurai Mani Iyer, Maharajapuram Viswanatha Iyer, flute N. Ramani, K. V. Narayanaswamy, T. N. Seshagopalan, and D. K. Jayaraman.
The Rudrapatnam Brothers are an Indian Carnatic vocal duo, consisting of brothers R. N. Thyagarajan and Dr. R. N. Tharanathan. The brothers come from a family of musicians from Rudrapatna village off the Kaveri banks in Arkalgud Thaluk of Hassan district in the southwest Indian state of Karnataka. Vocalist Tiger Varadachariar, on seeing the musical atmosphere there, once claimed that "Rudrapatnam is the Thanjavur of Karnataka". Music, Veda adhyayana, and studying Sanskrit were integral parts of their family tradition.
Salem K. Meera is a Carnatic musician in Salem. She is well-versed in vocal, veena and keyboard. Salem K.Meera has composed so many swara jathis, varnams, thilanas and Tamil songs. She runs a music school in the name of her parents “Sri Gowri Kanakasabapathy Gana Vidya Nilayam” at her residence right from 2-2-1977 and trained thousands of students in Karnatic vocal, veena and keyboard without a break. The school has been running with interesting subjects with variety of students which encourages lot of group study with a very well guru – student relationship. She is the Joint President of Salem Sangeetha Vidwath sabha for the past three years. Also she has served as the President of the sabha for six years, secretary for six years. Committee member and vice president for 12 years. She is an active and creative participant in the sabha activities. She has been performing in the Salem sabha from 1950 until now (2011).
Sikkil R. Bhaskaran is a violinist in Carnatic music and Tamil Isai.
H. K. Narayana was a well-known singer and music composer from Karnataka, India. He was an icon of Light music and played an important role in popularizing the genre of Sugama Sangeetha in Kannada. Nadavirada Baduke by Nissar Ahmed, Brundavanake Haalanu Maaralu by Kuvempu and Shubha Nudiye Shakunada Hakki by D. R. Bendre are some of his well-known numbers. He is popular through Navasuma and Geetharaadhana in Radio.
