Hullappa Yamanappa Meti is an Indian politician. He is a member of Indian National Congress,a member of the 14th Karnataka Legislative Assembly,and a former minister in the Siddaramaiah cabinet. [1] [2] In the 2013 Karnataka Legislative Assembly election,Meti was elected from the Bagalkot assembly constituency,polling 68,216 votes. [3] In the 2018 Karnataka Legislative Assembly election,he lost to Veerabhadrayya Charantimath of BJP,by a margin of 15,934 votes. [4] Prior to that,he was a MLA for Guledgud Assembly constituency from 1989 to 1999 and 2004 to 2007. [5]
Meti was appointed Excise Minister,but after a CD was published showing him engaging in a sexual act,he resigned on 7 December 2016. [6] [7]
On 11 December 2016,a woman in a televised interview accused Meti of having sought sexual favors in return for a transfer,but said she was not the woman in the sex video. [8]
On 12 December, [8] RTI activist Rajashekar Mulali [9] complained to the police of receiving death threats from the minister and his followers for saying he had a sex CD on him. [2] Meti described it as a political conspiracy to malign him,claiming he was not involved in any immoral act with any woman,and challenged Mulali to release the tape. [8]
The original video was reported missing during the investigation. [10] On 24 May 2017,the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Karnataka Police,which investigated the case gave him "clean chit" and reported that the video was doctored. [6]
On 18 August 2017,a woman claiming that she was the one in the sex video filed a complaint of kidnapping and rape against Meti. [11]
Haradanahalli Doddegowda Deve Gowda is an Indian politician who served as the 11th prime minister of India from 1 June 1996 to 21 April 1997. He was previously the 14th Chief Minister of Karnataka from 1994 to 1996. He presently is a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha representing Karnataka. He is the national president of the Janata Dal (Secular) party. Born in a farming family,he joined the Indian National Congress party in 1953,and remained a member until 1962. He was imprisoned during the Emergency. He became President of the state unit of Janata Dal in 1994,and was considered to be a driving force in the party's victory in Karnataka. He served as the 8th Chief Minister of Karnataka from 1994 to 1996. In the 1996 general elections,no party won enough seats to form a government. When the United Front,a coalition of regional parties,formed the central government with the support of the Congress,Deve Gowda was unexpectedly chosen to head the government and was elected Prime Minister. During his tenure as prime minister,he also served as Home Minister for some time. His prime ministerial tenure lasted for less than a year. After his prime ministerial tenure,he was elected to the 12th (1998),14th (2004),15th,and 16th Lok Sabha,as Member of Parliament for the Hassan Lok Sabha constituency. He lost Lok Sabha elections in 2019 from Tumkuru but has been elected to Rajya Sabha since.
Siddaramaiah,also referred to by his nickname Siddu,is an Indian politician who is serving as the 22nd Chief Minister of Karnataka since 2023. He also held that position previously from 2013 to 2018,being only the second person to hold that office for a full five-year term. He belongs to the Indian National Congress and is presently the leader of the Congress Legislative Party. He represented the Varuna Assembly constituency from 2023,previously from 2008 to 2018,Badami Assembly constituency from 2018 to 2023,and from Chamundeshwari Assembly constituency from 2004 to 2007,1994 to 1999 and from 1983 to 1989 in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly. Balappa Bhimappa Chimmanakatti is a politician from the state of Karnataka. He is a leader of Indian National Congress. He won as MLA in 2013 from Badami assembly constituency. In 2018 assembly elections,then Chief Minister Siddaramaiah contested elections from Badami and hence Chimmanakatti did not contest.
