HDMS Dronning Marie was a ship of the line of the Royal Danish Navy.
She was named in honour of Wieen Marie.
Dronning Marie was built at Nyholm to a design by Andreas Schifter. Construction started in 1821 and was not completed until 1827. She was launched in 1824. [1]
Dronning Marie was 180 feet long, with a beam of 46 feet and a draught of 19 feet. Her complement was 771 men. Her initial gun armament was 84 30-pounder guns. [2]
Dronning Marie was under the command of Ulrich Anthon Schønheyder on her maiden journey in 1934. Eckersberg asked Harbour Master at Nyholm Søren Ludvig Tuxe for permission to participate on the ship's maiden voyage around Zealand. He and his friend Emil Normann boarded the ship on 5 July. On 7 July, in the Bay of Sejrø, the two went off in a rowing boat to paint the vessel in the Great Belt. Eckersberg got off in Nyborg. Dronning Marie grounded south of Sprogø in 1834. The locality is now known as Dronning Marias Puller. [3]

In 1849, she was converted into a 60-gun frigate.
After the Battle of Bov, in 1848, Dronning Marie was for a while used as a prison ship in Copenhagen. In 1858, Dronning Marie was put into use as an accommodation ship at Nyholm. She was decommissioned in 1862. She existed until at least 1888.
Christoffer Wilhelm Eckersberg has created an 1834 painting of Dronning Merie as well as an 1824 drawing of her under construction. She is also known from a number of other drawings and lithographs. Her figurehead was for many years installed as a monument at Holmen in Copenhagen. It has later been moved to Frederikshavn Naval Base in Frederikshavn. [4]
Christoffer Wilhelm Eckersberg was a Danish painter. He was born in Blåkrog in the Duchy of Schleswig. He went on to lay the foundation for the period of art known as the Golden Age of Danish Painting, and is referred to as the "Father of Danish painting".

The Danish ironclad Dannebrog was an armored frigate of the Royal Danish Navy that was originally built as an 80-gun ship-of-the-line by Andreas Schifter was launched in 1850 but was reconstructed into a steam-powered ironclad in the early 1860s. She had an uneventful career before the ship was stricken from the navy list in 1875. The ship was converted into an accommodation ship that same year and served until she became a target ship in 1896. Dannebrog was broken up in 1897.

The Royal Danish Naval Museum is a museum dedicated to the history of the Royal Danish Navy. The displays include a collection of naval models which dates back to late 17th century. The museum is based in Søkvæsthuset, a former naval hospice which overlooks Christianshavn Canal.

HDMS Galathea was a three-masted corvette of the Royal Danish Navy, constructed at Gammelholm to designs by Andreas Shifter in 1831. She is above all remembered for being the ship that undertook the First Galathea Expedition, 1845–1847. On two occasions, first in 1833 and later in 1839, Galathea was also instrumental in picking some of Bertel Thorvaldsen's artworks up in Rome and bringing them back to Denmark.
Ole (Olaus) Judichær was a Danish shipbuilder and admiral in the Royal Danish Navy.
Quentin Durward was a paddle-wheel steamer, built in the United Kingdom in 1823. The ship was bought in 1827 by a Danish businessman and was employed on a route between Copenhagen and ports in Jutland and Funen, with the name Dania. She later served on the route between Aarhus and Kalundborg. The paddle-wheeler was broken up in 1841.
HDMS Rota was a frigate of the Royal Danish Navy. She is above all remembered for being the ship that, in 1838, picked up the sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen and many of his artworks in Livorno and brought them back to Denmark. Hans Dahlerup, her captain, and Alexander Wilde, then a junior lieutenant, have both described the voyage in their memoirs. In 1863, Rota was sold to H. Puggaard & Co. and converted into a civilian merchant ship. She wrecked off the coast of southern Norway in 1892, some ten years after being sold to Paul Larsen, Arendal.
HDMS Thetis was a frigate of the Royal Danish Navy, which she served from 1842 to 1864. She is best known for being one of the ships that picked up some of the sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen's artworks and other belongings in Rome, some forty years after another Danish naval vessel by the same name had transported him the other way. In the meantime he had achieved international fame for his Neoclassical sculptures. Thorvaldsen, who had been back in Rome since September 1841, after moving back to Copenhagen in 1838, was also supposed to return with the ship. He did however, miss its departure by one day. The Royal Danish Navy's first music corps played its first performance on board the Thetis in 1857.
Dronning Sophia Magdalena was an East Indiaman of the Danish Asiatic Company, constructed at Asiatisk Plads in 1747. The name was later transferred to another DAC East Indiaman, built Asiatisk Plads in 1762.
