Hal Koerner (born January 23, 1976, in Morgantown, WV [1] [2] ) is an American distance runner specializing in ultramarathon running. Hal won the HardRock 100 and has back to back victories at Western States 100 in 2007 and 2009.

He is the owner of a specialty running store, Rogue Valley Runners, located in the mountainous Southern Oregon town of Ashland. He is one of the subjects of JB Benna's feature-length documentary "Unbreakable: The Western States 100". [3]

He is Race Director of the Pine to Palm 100 Mile Endurance Run - A hundred-mile footrace from Williams, OR to Ashland, OR held each year the second weekend in September. In addition to that race he also directs the Siskiyou Out Back Trail Run Festival (8k, 15k, 50k, 50M and 100k) held on Mount Ashland annually since 1999. He also created and directs The Lithia Loop Trail Marathon / Mini- Marathon / 10k also held in Ashland, OR the first weekend in November.

In 2014, "Hal Koerner's Field Guide to Ultrarunning" was published and released by VeloPress. The book details training for an ultra marathon; from 50k to 100 miles. It debuted #1 in its category on Amazons bestsellers list.

Koerner has held the Fastest Known Time for the Colorado Trail (489 miles) and the John Muir Trail (221 miles). [4] [5] To date he has completed over 150 ultra marathons.

Nikki Kimball is an American distance runner specializing in the Ultramarathon. She ran her first 100-mile race at the Western States 100 Mile Endurance Run in 2004, and was the female winner. She was the winning female at Western States again in 2006 and 2007, becoming only the third woman to win Western States three times. In 2014, she won the Marathon Des Sables multi-stage endurance race on her first attempt. Prior to running, her main sport was cross-country skiing. She was crewed at the 2007 Western States by U.S. Senator Max Baucus of Montana, where Kimball lives. She lives in Bozeman, Montana.

Karl Meltzer is an ultrarunner and ultrarunning coach based in Sandy, Utah. Meltzer has won more 100-mile ultramarathons than any other ultramarathoner, and has held speed records at major U.S. trails, including the Appalachian Trail and the Pony Express Trail. Meltzer's trail runs have been featured in news outlets from Ultrarunning.com to NBC Sports. Meltzer has been a professional ultramarathoner since 1999, and a coach since 2007.

Yassine Diboun is an American ultra-runner. He won and set the course record at the Leona Divide 50k race in 2013 with a time of 4:03:33. Diboun routinely places near the top in some of the most difficult American and international ultra-marathons, including a 3rd-place finish in the 2016 HURT 100 mile race with a finishing time of 22:39:00 and Top Ten finish in the 2013 Western States 100 with a time of 18:44:02. He ran the 2015 Western States 100 in 17:41:38 and placed fifteenth. His fastest 100-mile time is also at the coveted Western States 100 from 2012 in a time of 16:43:01. In 2015 Yassine was one of five American runners who represented the USA at the IAU World Trail Championships in Annecy, France. The team went on to take the silver medal.

Timothy Olson is an American ultra-runner who was the former recordholder for the Pacific Crest Trail in 51 days, 16 hours and 55 minutes. He won the Western States 100 in 2012 and 2013, including the former course record of 14 hours, 46 minutes and 44 seconds in 2012.

Kristin "Krissy" Moehl is an American ultramarathon athlete who specializes in trail running. In 2005, Moehl became the youngest woman to complete the Grand Slam of Ultrarunning, which included a gold medal at the Vermont 100 Mile Endurance Run.

As of 2024, Andrews competes for La Sportiva's professional team.
