Hale County High School is a public high school in Moundville, Alabama and serves about 360 students in Hale County, Alabama. [2] The student body is predominantly African American and white. [2] Wildcats are the school mascot. [3] Black and gold are the school colors. [4]

Its football team was established in 1913. [5] In 2016 the school's softball team won its third straight 3A state championship. [6] In 2017 the basketball team won its first state championship. [7] [8] Herbert Jones, who played for the University of Alabama, was part of the team. [8]

Briarwood Christian School is a private school in Birmingham, Alabama. It was founded by Briarwood Presbyterian Church in 1965 as a segregation academy. In 1970, when integration of the public schools was mandated by the federal government, the IRS began revoking the tax exempt status of segregation academies. During this time the school added a non-discrimination policy, although no black students were admitted.

Herbert Keyshawn Jones is an American professional basketball player for the New Orleans Pelicans of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the Alabama Crimson Tide. He earned third-team All-American honors as a senior in 2021, when he was also named the SEC Player of the Year.

R. A. Hubbard High School is a public high school serving grades 7 to 12 in Lawrence County, Alabama. It has 135 students and is in North Courtland, Alabama. The school's teams compete as the Chiefs and the school colors are black and orange. It was preceded by Courtland High School.
