Hamerton Zoo Park is situated in Hamerton, near Sawtry, Huntingdonshire, England.
Planning permission for change of use from agricultural land to a zoo was granted in 1988, with the park being opened on 15 June 1990 by local MP, then-Chancellor, and future Prime Minister John Major. [3] [4] The zoo has two large wind turbines to provide power for the park erected during the second half of November 2012; the zoo was described as being the "most environmentally-friendly zoo in Europe" in 2014. [5] An application for two 50 kW turbines was turned down in August 2015 by Huntingdonshire District Council. [6]
The zoo has a conservation sanctuary [7] which has a collection of nearly 100 different species including rare / endangered animals and birds. [8]
The park was evacuated on the morning of 29 May 2017 after what was described as a 'serious incident'. It was later confirmed that zookeeper Rosa King, age 33, had been killed in the tiger enclosure at about 11:15 a.m. that day. [9]

The Yorkshire Wildlife Park, or known as simply Yorkshire Zoo, is a wildlife conservation, rehabilition centre, 300-acre zoo, and tourist attraction located in Branton, south-east of Doncaster, South Yorkshire, England. It opened in 2009 on the site of Brockholes Farm, a former riding school and petting zoo, and features 500 animals of 100 species. Yorkshire Wildlife Park is an official member of the British and Irish Association of Zoos and Aquariums (BIAZA) and the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA).
Knuthenborg Safaripark is a safari park on the island of Lolland in the southeast of Denmark. It is located 7 km to the north of Maribo, near Bandholm. It is one of Lolland's major tourist attractions with over 250,000 visitors annually, and is the largest safari park in northern Europe. It is also the largest natural playground for both children and adults in Denmark. Among others, it houses an arboretum, aviaries, a drive-through safari park, a monkey forest and a tiger enclosure. Knuthenborg covers a total of 660 hectares, including the 400-hectare (990-acre) Safaripark. The park is viewable on Google Street View.
