Marshall was born in London. [1] She has played on the British and European improvisation scene since the 2000s, with among others Polar Bear, Terry Day, [2] Alex Ward, Alexander Hawkins, [3] Veryan Weston, [4] Satoko Fukuda, Alison Blunt, Tony Marsh, Neil Metcalfe, Ingrid Laubrock, Rachel Musson and Dominic Lash;, [5] Evan Parker, [6] Luc Ex and Fred Frith. She also joined the Insub Meta Orchestra, the London Improvisers Orchestra and the Oxford Improvisers Orchestra. In 2012 she made a solo album Tulse Hill (Linear Obsessional Recordings). She is listed in 19 recording in the field of jazz between 2005 and 2014 by the discographer Tom Lord. [7]
Derek Bailey was an English avant-garde guitarist and an important figure in the free improvisation movement. Bailey abandoned conventional performance techniques found in jazz, exploring atonality, noise, and whatever unusual sounds he could produce with the guitar. Much of his work was released on his own label Incus Records. In addition to solo work, Bailey collaborated frequently with other musicians and recorded with collectives such as Spontaneous Music Ensemble and Company.
Steve Beresford is a British musician who graduated from the University of York He has played a variety of instruments, including piano, electronics, trumpet, euphonium, bass guitar and a wide variety of toy instruments, such as the toy piano. He has also played a wide range of music. He is probably best known for free improvisation, but has also written music for film and television and has been involved with a number of pop music groups.
John William Stevens was an English drummer, and a founding member of the Spontaneous Music Ensemble.

Sylvie Courvoisier is a composer, pianist, improviser and bandleader. She was born and raised in Lausanne, Switzerland, and has been a resident of New York City since 1998. She won Germany’s International Jazz Piano Prize in 2022 and was named Pianist of the Year for 2023 in the international critics poll of Spanish jazz publication El Intruso. NPR’s Kevin Whitehead has encapsulated the distinctive character of Courvoisier’s art this way: “Some pianists approach the instrument like it’s a cathedral. Sylvie Courvoisier treats it like a playground.”
Dominic Lash is a Bristol based double bassist and film theorist. He was formerly a central figure in the musicians' collective Oxford Improvisers. Important long-term musical collaborators include Angharad Davies, Bruno Guastalla, Alexander Hawkins, Tim Hill, Steve Noble, Samantha Rebello, Pat Thomas, Philipp Wachsmann and Alex Ward. He has also performed with saxophonists John Butcher and Evan Parker and violinist Tony Conrad. Recent work includes a UK tour with US guitarist Joe Morris, Australian drummer Tony Buck and saxophonist Tony Bevan. Festival appearances have included the Manchester Jazz Festival, Akbank Jazz Festival (Istanbul) and Tampere Jazz Happening.

Haste is the eponymous debut album by the free improvisation trio consisting of British pianist Veryan Weston, German saxophonist Ingrid Laubrock and British cellist Hannah Marshall. It was recorded live in 2011 during the XV Festival Internacional de Improvisacion Hurta Cordel in Barcelona and released on the British Emanem label.
Terence Day is a musician specialising in free improvisation, a poet and a visual artist. He is a founding member of the Continuous Music Ensemble and The People Band.
