Hard Scrabble Creek is a stream in the U.S. state of Washington. [1] [3] The creek flows down off the sides of Stewart Mountain, into the South Fork Nooksack in Van Zandt, Washington, 4.4 miles south of Deming, Washington. The creek has also been known by White Eagle Creek. [1]
The creek has been declared as an "impaired waterbody" by the EPA for low oxygen and temperature, and there are plans in place to restore the creek. [2]
Hard Scrabble Creek, and the accompanying gulch and series of waterfalls, [4] were named in 1860 by a group of settlers.[ citation needed ]
