Hariraj is a former Indian actor who worked in Tamil-language films.

Career

Hariraj worked as a hero in films during the 1990s with the most notable one being Valli (1993). [1] [2] [3] He left films as a personal choice and worked in agriculture and photography in Coimbatore. [4]

After a sabbatical, he returned with a negative role in Sundar C.'s Rendu (2006) followed by the role of an uncle who turns rogue in Kadhalil Vizhunthen (2007). [4] [5] He played a psychopathic doctor and the father of Harish Kalyan's character in Aridhu Aridhu (2010). [6] Regarding his role, a critic wrote that "Hariraj, as the mentally disturbed father who has his own demons to battle with, is impressive". [7] He worked with Atharvaa in the unreleased film Anandam Arambam. [4] He also played a negative role in Ivan Veramathiri (2013). [8]

Rendu (transl. Two) is a 2006 Indian Tamil-language action comedy film directed by Sundar C and produced by Khushbu. The film stars Madhavan in dual lead roles, with Reema Sen and Anushka Shetty as the lead actresses. Vadivelu, Santhanam and Bhagyaraj also appear in supporting roles alongside a large ensemble cast. Rendu, which featured music composed by D. Imman, released on 24 November 2006. The film marks the debut of Anushka Shetty in Tamil cinema.

Valli is a 1993 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed by K. Natraj, written and produced by Latha Rajinikanth and Rajinikanth, who also stars in extended guest lead role. It stars Priya Raman and Hariraj as the main leads and newcomer Sanjay as the main antagonist. The film's music was scored by Ilaiyaraaja. Rajinikanth scripted the film, wrote the dialogues and appeared in an extended guest role. The film was a box office disaster.

A remake of the 1983 Telugu film Dharmaatmudu, it stars Rajinikanth and Radhika, with Karthik, Thulasi, V. K. Ramasamy, Major Sundarrajan, Y. G. Mahendran and Visu in supporting roles. The film revolves around a worker who is bequeathed his late boss's business, earning the wrath of the boss's son who believes he swindled his father's business.

Mullum Malarum is a 1978 Indian Tamil-language drama film written and directed by Mahendran. Produced by Venu Chettiar and V. Mohan, the film stars Rajinikanth, Sarath Babu, Jayalaxmi and Shoba. It marks Mahendran's directorial debut and is partly based on Uma Chandran's novel of the same name, which was serialised in the Tamil magazine Kalki in 1966. Ranuva Veeran (transl. Soldier) is a 1981 Indian Tamil-language action film directed by S. P. Muthuraman, starring Rajinikanth, Sridevi and Chiranjeevi. It was released on 27 October 1981 on the occasion of Diwali. The film was later dubbed in Hindi as Zulm Ki Zanjeer. Despite starring two popular heroes from Tamil and Telugu cinema, Ranuva Veeran became a box office failure.

Nattamai is a 1994 Indian Tamil-language drama film written and directed by K. S. Ravikumar. It starred Sarathkumar, Meena and Khushbu. The film was released on 2 November 1994, during Diwali, and completed a 175-day run at the box office. It is considered to be one of the most popular Tamil films of the 1990s and in general. It became a trendsetter for many films in later years. The Goundamani-Senthil comic duo was one of the most popular aspects of the film.

Aridhu Aridhu is a 2010 Indian Tamil-language drama film written and directed by K. R. Mathivanan, an assistant of director Shankar, directing his maiden venture. The movie is produced by Jaya Krishnan under the banner name of JK Creations. The movie's lead cast includes Harish Kalyan and Uttara Raj, making her debut. Thaman has scored the music under the audio label of Five Star Audios.

Sri Valli is a 1961 Indian Tamil-language Hindu mythological film directed by T. R. Ramanna. Based on the folk tale of Valli, the film stars Sivaji Ganesan and Padmini, supported by T. R. Mahalingam, E. R. Sahadevan, C. K. Saraswathi and J. P. Chandrababu. This film was taken in Gevacolor. It was released on 1 July 1961 and was not successful. The film also featured Lakshmi in her on-screen debut as the child version of the titular character.

<i>Valli Vara Pora</i> 1995 Indian film

Valli Vara Pora is a 1995 Indian Tamil-language comedy film directed by S. V. Solai Raja in his debut. The film stars Pandiarajan, Mohana and Nirosha, with Vinu Chakravarthy, Vijaya Lalitha, Vennira Aadai Moorthy, Charle, Muralikumar, Pasi Narayanan and Kumarimuthu playing supporting roles. It is a remake of the 1993 Malayalam film Meleparambil Anveedu. The film was released on 10 February 1995, and failed at the box office.
