Harper Brewer Jr. (born December 22,1937),was an American politician in the state of Tennessee. Brewer served in the Tennessee House of Representatives as a Democrat from the 98th District from 1973 to 1987. [1] A native of Memphis,Tennessee,he was an educator and alumnus of the Nashville School of Law and Fisk University. [2]

The Tennessee Democratic Party (TNDP) is the affiliate of the Democratic Party in Tennessee. The party was founded in 1826 initially as the Jacksonian Party. The Tennessee Democratic Party was born out of President Andrew Jackson's populist philosophy of Jacksonian democracy in the mid to late-1820s. After Jackson left office,the Democratic Party struggled in the state as the Whig Party would go on to be the dominant party in Tennessee until its collapse after the 1852 Election. Prior to the Civil War,as a result of the collapse of the former Whig Party,the Democratic Party became the dominant party in the state. After the war ended,the Republican Party would be the dominant political party during Reconstruction,but once Reconstruction ended,the Democratic Party would dominate Tennessee Politics up until 2011 when the Republican Party would gain firm control of Tennessee State Government.

Ralph Yelton,was an American politician in the state of Tennessee. Yelton served in the Tennessee House of Representatives from 1977 to 1989 as a Democrat from Sullivan County,Tennessee. He was an accountant and in religion,a Baptist. He lived in Kingsport,Tennessee. He was a Korean War veteran,having served with the United States Army's 2nd Infantry Division. Yelton was wounded in 1951,leading to partial paralysis. According to Veteran's Administration records Yelton was the oldest living paralyzed combat veteran in the country. He died in 2015,aged 88.
James Craft "Lefty" Akard was an American politician in the state of Tennessee. Akard served in the Tennessee House of Representatives from 1981 to 1982. He was a former educator,having served as Superintendent of Sullivan County Schools from 1948 to 1971,and as Field Representative for the Tennessee Board of Education from 1971 to 1979. He was elected to the Tennessee House of Representatives in 1981 as a Democrat,representing the 1st district,encompassing Sullivan County. He did not run for reelection upon the expiration of his term,stating,"to be perfectly honest,I don't believe I can be an effective legislator because the role is not in keeping with my background and temperament".

Sterling Haskel "Hack" Ayers was an American auctioneer and politician in the state of Tennessee. Ayers served in the Tennessee House of Representatives from 1967 to 1968. A Republican,he represented the 9th district. Residing in LaFollette,Tennessee,Ayers was an auctioneer,furniture dealer,and real estate broker. He was the founder of Ayers Auction &Real Estate in LaFollette and was a former president of the National Auctioneers Association. He was also a member of the NAA Hall of Fame. Ayers died in 2020 at the age of 83.

Residing in Harriman,Tennessee,he was a businessman and farmer. Bowman was of the Southern Baptist faith and was a life-long member of Caney Ford Baptist Church. He died on August 1,2022,at the age of 90.
