Harriet was launched at New York in 1810. She was captured and sold as a prize in 1813 to British owners. She was wrecked at Fanning's Island in late 1831 or early 1832.
Harriet first appeared in Lloyd's Register (LR) in 1818 with S.Skelling, master and owner, and trade London–Demerara. [4]
On 23 May Harriet, Skelling, master, arrived at Barbados from London. On 23 July Harriet, Skilling, master, was off Dover, having come from Barbados; Skellin arrived at Gravesend that same day. In October Harriet sailed for Demerara.

Incident: On 3 November 1825 there was a report from Margate that Harriet, Fulcher, master, had come from Singapore. While in the Downs she was driven from there, losing her anchors and cables. She then went to Broadstairs to supply. [5]
LR and the RS for 1832 showed Harriet, W.Buckle, master, Kenner (or Kenniers), owner, and trade London–New South Wales. [2] [3]
The New Zealand Herald carried a report on 19 July 1832 dated Otaheite 10 April. The commander of HMS Zebra reported having seen Captain Buckle at Otaheite, Harriet having been lost at Fanning's Island. On 10 September Lloyd's List reported that Harriet, Buckle, master, had wrecked at "Fenning's Island". On 20 September the Nautical Magazine and Naval Chronicle of London reported that the British whaler Harriet, Buckle, master, had been wrecked at "Tanning's Island"; her crew had survived.
In 1834 Harriet's register was cancelled as she had been lost at sea. [1]
City of Edinburgh was a merchant ship built at Bengal in 1813. She transferred to British registry and sailed between Britain and India. She made two voyages transporting convicts from Ireland to Australia. Later, she made a whaling voyage to New Zealand. She was wrecked in 1840.
Tuscan was built at Hull in 1793. She reportedly made one voyage for the British East India Company (EIC). A French privateer captured her in 1798, but she returned to British hands c.1805. She was wrecked at Memel in November 1823.
Durham was launched in France in 1813 under another name and taken c.1814. New owners named her Durham. She traded with Newfoundland, the Caribbean, and South America. She was lost in 1819, believed foundered with all hands on her way back to Liverpool from the Dutch East Indies.
British Hero was launched at Jarrow in 1809. She initially was a government transport and so did not appear in Lloyd's Register (LR) or the Register of Shipping (RS) until she came into mercantile service c. 1813. She was lost in November 1816 on a voyage to India.
Busiris was launched at Newcastle upon Tyne in 1814 as a West Indiaman. She made one voyage as an East Indiaman and then returned to the West Indies trade. She was wrecked in May 1826.
Chiswick was built at Batavia in the Netherlands East Indies for Dutch owners but quickly fell into British hands. She became a West Indiaman. The French captured her in 1804 but she quickly returned to British hands. She was wrecked at Aux Cayes in 1808. Her loss gave rise to an interesting case in cargo insurance.
Stirling was built in 1812 at Montreal, Quebec. She apparently traded out of Liverpool as a West Indiaman. There is little evidence that she traded as an East Indiaman. She was last listed in 1821 and a vessel named Sterling, sailing out of Quebec, was wrecked in November 1821.
Ceres was launched at Kolkata in August 1793 as Lutchmy and renamed in 1794. She sailed to England in 1798 and became a West Indiaman. She was condemned at Barbados in 1806. New owners returned her to service, first as a West Indiaman and then as an East Indiaman. She was damaged at Mauritius in 1818 and although she was listed until 1824, it is not clear that she sailed again after the damage she sustained in Mauritius.
Thames was launched in 1818 as an East Indiaman, trading with India and Ceylon under a license from the British East India Company (EIC). She made one voyage transporting convicts to Van Diemen's Land. She became leaky and was condemned at Swan River in 1830 as she was sailing to Île de France from having delivered her convicts at Hobart.
Mariner was launched at Philadelphia in 1809. The British seized her for trading with the French and she became a British merchantman. She was wrecked in July 1823.
Glenmore was launched as a West Indiaman in 1806 at Elgin. She made one voyage to Bengal in 1813–14, then became a Greenland whaler in 1818, and made four full whaling voyages. She was lost in the White Sea in 1822.
Lord Wellington was launched in 1810 at Rochester, or equally, Chatham, as a West Indiaman. She made at least one voyage to India under a license from the British East India Company (EIC). She then made a voyage to New South Wales transporting female convicts from England and Ireland. She was lost in December 1822 off Denmark while sailing from Saint Petersburg to London.
Amelia was built in Massachusetts in 1809 or 1810. The British captured her in 1813. She sailed as a British merchantman until she foundered in 1829 or 1830.
Adrian was launched in 1819 at Newcastle upon Tyne. She initially sailed between London and Canada but then in 1822 she started sailing east of the Cape of Good Hope under a license from the British East India Company. She made voyages to Bengal and Batavia. In between, she transported convicts to New South Wales. She foundered in 1833.
Woodlark was launched at Rotherhithe in 1819. She initially traded with the Mediterranean but then switched to trading with Australia, the Dutch East Indies, and Singapore. She was wrecked in April 1828 while sailing from Australia to the Cape of Good Hope on her way to England.
Regalia was launched at Sunderland in 1811. In 1819 she made a voyage to Calcutta, sailing under a license from the British East India Company (EIC). She also sailed to New South Wales and Van Diemen's Land. From Sydney she engaged in several sealing hunting voyages to the waters around Macquarie Island. In 1826 she transported convicts from Dublin to New South Wales. From 1831 until 1852, when she was wrecked at Davis Strait, Regalia was a whaler in the northern whale fishery.
Harriet was launched in Massachusetts in 1809. The British captured her and on 13 January 1813 a prize court condemned her. New owners retained her name. She became a West Indiaman, and made one voyage to New South Wales. Between 1818 and 1832 she made four complete voyages as a whaler in the British southern whale fishery. She was lost in October 1833 in the Seychelles on her fifth whaling voyage.
Doncaster was launched on the River Thames in 1825. Early in her career she carried emigrants to Australia. She made other voyages to Van Diemen's Land and New South Wales, but also traded as a West Indiaman. She was wrecked on 17 July 1836 on the coast of South Africa while sailing from Île de France (Mauritius) to London under a license from the British East India Company (EIC).
Sir George Osborne was acquired in 1814 by British owners purchasing a prize. They initially sailed her as a West Indiaman. Then in 1820 she carried immigrants to South Africa under the auspices of a settler scheme. She then made one voyage as a whaler in the British southern whale fishery. Under new owners she then made a highly unusual voyage to the Pacific. Her new owners were the founders of the Pacific Pearl Fishery Company, and they sailed her on a voyage that was part commercial venture and part scientific exploration, complete with a resident scientist. After her return new owners sent her whaling to the Seychelles, where she was wrecked and abandoned in April 1829.
