Harry Bogomoloff

Harry "Bogo" Bogomoloff (born June 10, 1944, in Helsinki, Finland) is a Finnish politician, sports influencer and an ice hockey referee. He has a MSc degree in political sciences.

Bogomoloff has been a member of the City Council of Helsinki since 1985. For two years, he served as the chairman of the municipal board and for eight years as the chairman of the council group of the National Coalition Party. He has served as the first vice chairman of the council since 2005.

During his lifetime, Bogomoloff has had multiple roles related to ice hockey. He has served in the Finnish Ice Hockey Association since 1990 and been its vice chairman since 1997. In addition he was the chief executive officer of the Ice Hockey Foundation from 1974 until 2013 and has had roles in the International Ice Hockey Federation. He has had a hand in organising all of the Ice Hockey World Championships arranged in Finland. He remains a qualified referee. He served as a referee in the Finnish champions league between 1962 and 1965. In 2006, he was inducted into the Finnish Hockey Hall of Fame in the Influencer category with the number 185.

In July 2012, Bogomoloff caused a slight stir by saying that he thought the University of Lapland was a reservation for people on benefits, the graduates from which were good only for snow plowing tasks.^[1]^[2] He later apologised for his words.^[3]

He caused another stir on May 7, 2018, with an update on Facebook: "There was a group of three Balkan-dark men out and about in the beachfront park (northern shore) seemingly without a reason. FYI." The update was widely condemned as being racist.^[4]

Harri Hermanni Holkeri was a Finnish statesman representing the National Coalition Party of Finland. He was the Prime Minister of Finland 1987–1991, president of the UN General Assembly 2000–2001 and headed the United Nations Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo from 2003 to 2004.

The National Coalition Party is a liberal-conservative political party in Finland.

Jyrki Tapani Katainen is a Finnish politician who served as the European Commission's Vice-President for Jobs, Growth, Investment and Competitiveness from 2014 until 2019. Katainen was previously Prime Minister of Finland from 2011 to 2014 and chairman of the National Coalition Party from 2004 to 2014. He was succeeded by Alexander Stubb as chairman of Finland's National Coalition Party. After stepping down as Prime Minister, Katainen was elected as European Commission Vice-President in July 2014.

Sauli Väinämö Niinistö is a Finnish politician who has served as the 12th and current president of Finland since 2012.

Finns Party Youth is the former youth wing of the Finns Party, a political party in Finland. The youth wing was officially founded in 2006. However, Finns Party decided to cut ties with Finns Party Youth due to the perceived ethno nationalist support in the youth wing in 2020. The youth wing went bankrupt in May 2020, due to the cut support. The temporary chair of the new youth wing is Jenna Simula, a current MP.

Timo Juhani Soini is a Finnish politician who is the co-founder and former leader of the Finns Party. He served as Deputy Prime Minister of Finland from 2015 to 2017 and Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2015 to 2019.

Ben Berl Zyskowicz is a Finnish politician and member of parliament. Zyskowicz was chairman of the Finnish National Coalition Party's parliamentary group from 1993 to 2006 and has been a member of parliament for the National Coalition Party since 1979. He was the first Jewish person to be elected to the Finnish parliament. Following the parliamentary elections in April 2011, Zyskowicz was elected as the speaker of the parliament, for the duration of negotiations over the governing coalition.

Pekka Olavi Haavisto is a Finnish politician of the Green League who has been serving as the Minister for Foreign Affairs since 2019.

James Hirvisaari is a Finnish politician. He was elected to the Finnish Parliament in the 2011 general election held on 17 April on the electoral list of the Finns Party, but since 2013 he has represented Change 2011.

Anna Silvia Modig is a Finnish politician; and a former journalist, and radio and TV host. She was a member of the Parliament of Finland 2011–2019, representing the Left Alliance, and was elected to the European Parliament in 2019. Modig is also a member of the Helsinki City Council.

A 2011 poll showed that 66% of Finnish respondents considered Finland to be a racist country but only 14% admitted to being racist themselves. Minority groups facing the most negative attitudes were Finnish Kale, Somalis, and ethnic groups mostly consisting of Muslims.

Maria Karoliina Ohisalo is a Finnish politician and researcher. She is a member of the Green League and has served as the party's leader since 2019. In the 2019 parliamentary election, she was elected with 11,797 votes. She was named Minister of the Interior in the Rinne Cabinet and continued with her duties in the following Marin Cabinet.
