Harry Lobay (June 23, 1917 – June 17, 1991) was a politician from Alberta, Canada.

Alberta is a western province of Canada. With an estimated population of 4,067,175 as of 2016 census, it is Canada's fourth most populous province and the most populous of Canada's three prairie provinces. Its area is about 660,000 square kilometres (250,000 sq mi). Alberta and its neighbour Saskatchewan were districts of the Northwest Territories until they were established as provinces on September 1, 1905. The premier has been Rachel Notley since May 2015.

Harry was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta in the 1948 Alberta general election for the riding of Beaver River on a comfortable margin after ballot transfer. He represented the Alberta Social Credit Party, [1] [2] and served as a backbencher under the Ernest Manning government.

The Legislative Assembly of Alberta is one of two components of the Legislature of Alberta, the other being Elizabeth II, Queen of Canada, represented by the Lieutenant-Governor of Alberta. The Alberta legislature meets in the Alberta Legislature Building in the provincial capital, Edmonton. The Legislative Assembly consists of 87 members, elected first past the post from single-member electoral districts.

Beaver River is a former Alberta provincial electoral district centred on the town of Lac La Biche, mandated to elect a single member to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta. It was created in 1913 from the western half of Pakan, and abolished in 1952 when it and the northern parts of Athabasca were replaced by Lac La Biche.

Harry was re-elected in the 1952 Alberta general election in a hotly contested battle in the new district of Lac La Biche. He defeated Alberta Liberal Party candidate William Hamilton by 40 votes.

Lac La Biche was a provincial electoral district in Alberta, Canada. It was mandated to return a single member to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta from 1952 to 1971. It replaced the riding of Beaver River and received the north-east parts of Athabasca, including the town of McMurray. It was replaced in 1971 by Lac La Biche-McMurray with minor boundary changes.

Founded in 1905, it was the dominant political party until the 1921 election, with the first three provincial Premiers being Liberals. Since 1921, it has formed the official opposition in the Legislative Assembly of Alberta several times, most recently from 1993 until 2012. Fourteen Liberals have served as Leader of the Opposition of Alberta.

In the 1959 Alberta general election, Harry ran attempting to get a third term in office, he was defeated by future Liberal party leader Michael Maccagno.

Michael "Mike" Maccagno was a politician from Alberta, Canada. He served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta from 1955 to 1968, and leader of the Alberta Liberal Party from 1964 to 1968.

Harry again ran as the candidate in Lac La Biche in the 1967 Alberta general election, but was once again defeated by Maccagno.
