Hassan Isse Jama (Somali :Xasan Ciise Jaamac) is a Somali politician and veteran. He served as the first Vice President of Somaliland and was one the founding members of the Somali National Movement. [1]
Hassan served in the BBC Somali Service as a broadcaster but was forced to relinquish his role at the BBC due to his SNM related activities. [2] He also held senior positions in the SNM including Vice Chairman. [3]
Hassan studied law at Queen Mary University in London and practiced as a lawyer. [4] [5]
In 2011,returned to political life after a 20-year absence and founded the Xaqsoor Party to compete in the 2012 Somaliland municipal elections,but failed to qualify and dissolved months after. [1]
Hassan Gouled Aptidon was the first President of Djibouti from 1977 to 1999.

Ahmed Mohamed Mohamoud "Silanyo" is a Somaliland politician who was President of Somaliland from 2010 to 2017. He is a long-time member of the government,having served as Minister of Commerce of the Somali Republic,and among other Cabinet positions. During the 1980s,he also served as the Chairman of the Somali National Movement.

Musa Bihi Abdi is a Somaliland politician and former military officer who has been President of Somaliland since December 2017. During the 1970s,he served as a pilot in the Somali Air Force under the Siad Barre administration. In 2010,Bihi was appointed the chairman of the ruling Kulmiye of Republic of Somaliland. In November 2015,Bihi was selected as the party's Presidential Candidate at the 5th annual central committee convention.

Dalyare fort is an open-top Dhulbahante garesa of the Darawiish era which was ordered built by the Dervish as a strategy for countering the colonization efforts of the Europeans. The building is located in the Nugaal Valley a few miles east of Las Anod. The purpose of the Dalyare fort was to serve as a refuge and escape route for Darawiish retreating from colonial forces who intend to head south towards the Shabelle River. However,retrospectively,some analysts have described the building as a setback to the previous tactic of maneuverability on the part of the Darawiish. Cali Jalax was the builder. The native Darawiish referred to the building as Sool-Daryare. On the other hand,the colonialists who launched attacks against the Darawiish referred to the building as Dariali.

The Battle of Agaarweyne was fought on 15 April 1903,in Agaarweyne between the British under Colonel Plunkett and the forces of Haji Muhammad Abdullah Hassan. Reinforced with a superiority in firearms,Hassan was victorious and defeated the allied force.
