Haugesund Idrettslag is a Norwegian athletics club from Haugesund, founded in 1906.

Its most prominent members are long-distance runners Susanne Wigene, Karl Johan Rasmussen and Bente Landøy as well as jumpers Eugen Haugland, Terje Haugland and Hanne Haugland. The latter are all related.

Winners are awarded a trophy by the Norwegian sculptor Kristian Kvakland, and the name—and theme—of the sculpture comes from a legendary local woman from the 1920s. The award ceremony is marked every year by a major, nationally televised event.

Dagny Mellgren Haugland from Ålgård is a former Norwegian footballer. She retired in December 2005 while playing for Klepp. She has also played for Boston Breakers, in the WUSA. She scored the golden goal in the final against the United States at the 2000 Summer Olympics, winning the gold medal for Norway. She retired from football in December 2005.

Hanne Haugland is a former Norwegian high jumper. She represented the clubs Haugesund IL, IL i BUL, SK Vidar and IF Minerva during her senior career.

Stakkastadvatnet is a lake on the border of Rogaland and Vestland counties in Norway. The 2.92-square-kilometre (1.13 sq mi) lake mostly lies in Rogaland along the municipal borders of Haugesund and Tysvær. A very small portion of the northern part of the lake crosses over into the municipality of Sveio in Vestland county. The lake lies about 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) northeast of the town of Haugesund. The lake has a small dam on the northwestern edge of the lake. The natural outlet of the lake flows through the dam and into the nearby lake Vigdarvatnet, located to the north.

Sportsklubben Vard Haugesund is a Norwegian professional football club located in Haugesund. The team currently plays in the 2. divisjon after being promoted from the 3. divisjon in 2019. The team reached the Norwegian Football Cup finals in 1962 and 1975. Vard played in the Norwegian top flight in 1976.
