The Cannes Film Festival, until 2003 called the International Film Festival, is an annual film festival held in Cannes, France, which previews new films of all genres, including documentaries, from all around the world. Founded in 1946, the invitation-only festival is held annually at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès. The festival was formally accredited by the FIAPF in 1951.

Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion is a 1970 Italian crime drama film directed by Elio Petri, starring Gian Maria Volonté and Florinda Bolkan. It is a psychological, black-humored satire on corruption in high office, telling the story of a top police officer who kills his mistress, and then tests whether the police would charge him for this crime. He begins manipulating the investigation by planting obvious clues while the other police officers ignore them, either intentionally or not.

The American film The Tree of Life, directed by Terrence Malick won the Palme d'Or.
Will van Kralingen was a Dutch actress whose starring credits included Havinck in 1987 and Temmink: The Ultimate Fight in 1998. Kralingen also appeared in Dutch television series, including De Zomer van '45, Het jaar van de Opvolging, and Het Wassende Water. Her most recent television roles were Hartslag and Flikken Maastricht.
