Established in 1996, Hawkesbury District Health Service replaced the old Hawkesbury Hospital which was built in 1955. In 2015, St John of God Health Care acquired the Hawkesbury District Health Service from Catholic Healthcare. [2]

Hawkesbury District Health Service is a division of St John of God Health Care, a Catholic not-for-profit health care group, that provides hospitals, home nursing, and social outreach services throughout Australia, New Zealand and the wider Asia-Pacific region. [3]

Hawkesbury District Health service has 131 beds, three operating theatres and one procedure room. It has an Emergency Department, medical and surgical wards, a maternity ward, paediatric and neonatal units, intensive and coronary care units and a community and allied health centre. [4]
