Minneapolis–Saint Paul is a metropolitan area located around the confluence of the Mississippi River, Minnesota and St. Croix rivers in the U.S. state of Minnesota. It is commonly known as the Twin Cities after the metro’s two largest cities, Minneapolis and Saint Paul. Minnesotans often refer to the two together simply as "the cities". It has the second largest economy in the Midwest.

St. Catherine University is a private Catholic liberal arts university in Saint Paul, Minnesota. It was established as one of the first institutions of higher learning specifically for women in the Midwest and was known as the College of St. Catherine until 2009. The network includes 17 hospitals, 66 clinics, eight long-term care facilities, two assisted living facilities, four independent living facilities, and one research institute. Essentia was accredited as an Accountable Care Organization by the National Committee for Quality Assurance in 2013.
M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center (UMMC) previously known as University of Minnesota Medical Center, is an 1700-bed non-profit, tertiary, research and academic medical center located in Minneapolis, Minnesota, servicing the entire region. UMMC is the region's only university-level academic medical center. The hospital is operated by the M Health Fairview Health System and the second largest hospital in the system. UMMC is affiliated with the University of Minnesota Medical School. UMMC is also an ACS designated level II trauma center and has a rooftop helipad to handle medevac patients. Attached to the medical center is the Masonic Children's Hospital that treats infants, children, adolescents, and young adults up to the age of 21.
The University of Minnesota Medical School is the medical school of the University of Minnesota. It is a combination of two campuses situated in Minneapolis and Duluth, Minnesota. The University of Minnesota Medical School is also part of one of the largest Academic Health Centers (AHC) in the United States. This center allows health professionals to train collaboratively across interdisciplinary teams throughout the course of their training programs. The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority is the governing body for healthcare regulation for the City of Winnipeg, the northern community of Churchill, and the Rural Municipalities of East and West St. Paul, in the Canadian province of Manitoba. Children's Minnesota is a nationally ranked non-profit, acute care children's hospital system located in St. Paul and Minneapolis, Minnesota. The hospital has 384 pediatric beds between their campuses. Children's Minnesota provides comprehensive pediatric specialties and subspecialties to infants, children, teens, and young adults aged 0–21 throughout Minnesota and surrounding regions and sometimes also treats adults that require pediatric care. Children's Minnesota Minneapolis features an American College of Surgeons verified Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center, 1 of 4 in the state. In addition to its two hospitals, Children's Minnesota has 12 primary and specialty care clinics, and six rehabilitation sites representing more than 60 pediatric specialties.
