Heartstrings is a 2009 British animated short film directed by Rhiannon Evans at the University of Wales in Newport. It tells us the story of two stop-motion figures made from string, who fall in love; their love is represented by a red string that connects them at the heart.

The film was made on a budget of £500 and took around four months to complete. [1] In 2010 it was included on the Best of British Animation Awards Vol. 8 DVD. [2]

<i>Ryan</i> (film) 2004 Canadian film

Ryan is a 2004 short animated documentary film created and directed by Chris Landreth about Canadian animator Ryan Larkin, who had lived on skid row in Montreal as a result of drug and alcohol abuse. Landreth's chance meeting with Larkin in 2000 inspired him to develop the film, which took 18 months to complete. It was co-produced by Copper Heart Entertainment and the National Film Board of Canada (NFB), and its creation and development is the subject of the NFB documentary Alter Egos. FLIP is an animation festival primarily hosted by the Light House Media Centre in Wolverhampton, UK. It is one of two festivals hosted by Light House, the other of which is Deaffest. Official literature for the festival says that FLIP occurs annually at the beginning of November and attracts submissions from more than 30 countries worldwide. As well as screening the selected open submissions, FLIP also consists of special screenings, talks from professionals within the animation world, workshops, industry panels, portfolio reviews and competitions. The festival was set up, managed and programmed by Peter McLuskie between 2004 and 2011. It grew out of the 'Animation Forum', also based at Light House and which was later rebranded as Animation Forum West Midlands and found a home at Birmingham City University. In 2009, the festival was awarded a Black Country Tourism Award for Event of the Year.

Anifest is an annual event that takes place in March and describes itself as "the largest annual event of this kind in the South East". It was founded in 2007 by Canterbury City Council. Industry guests have included Aardman, Double Negative, DreamWorks, LAIKA, Pixar, and The Ray Harryhausen Foundation. Since 2016, the festival has been run by a group of media lecturers at Canterbury Christ Church University.
