<span class="mw-page-title-main">Alaska State Legislature</span> Legislative branch of the state government of Alaska

The Alaska State Legislature is the state legislature of the U.S. state of Alaska. It is a bicameral institution consisting of the 40-member Alaska House of Representatives and the 20-member Alaska Senate. There are 40 House Districts (1–40) and 20 Senate Districts (A–T). With a total of 60 lawmakers, the Alaska State Legislature is the smallest bicameral state legislature in the United States and the second-smallest of all state legislatures. There are no term limits for either chamber. The Alaska State Legislature meets in the Alaska State Capitol in Juneau. The current meeting since 2023 is the 33rd Alaska State Legislature. The previous meeting, the 32nd Alaska State Legislature, met from 2021 to 2023.

The Nebraska Legislature is the legislature of the U.S. state of Nebraska. The Legislature meets at the Nebraska State Capitol in Lincoln. With 49 members, known as "senators", the Nebraska Legislature is the smallest U.S. state legislature. A total of 25 members is required for a majority; however, in order to overcome a filibuster, a two-thirds vote of all members is required, which takes 33 votes.

Laura Ebke is a politician from the state of Nebraska in the Midwestern United States. A resident of the city of Crete in the southeastern part of the state, she served a single term in the Nebraska Legislature, from 2015 to 2019. Originally a member of the Republican Party who described herself as "a conservative libertarian", Ebke changed her registration to the Libertarian Party in 2016; she was thought to be the first Libertarian member of the officially nonpartisan legislature. In July 2020, Ebke was elected to member-at-large of the Libertarian National Committee.

Tommy Garrett is a politician from the U.S. state of Nebraska. In 2013, he was appointed to fill a vacancy in the unicameral Nebraska Legislature, representing a district in Sarpy County, in the Omaha metropolitan area. Garrett is a member of the Republican Party. In Nebraska, the legislature is non-partisan.

Mervin Merle Riepe is an American politician from the state of Nebraska. In 2014, he was elected to the Nebraska Legislature, representing a district in the Omaha metropolitan area. In 2018, he lost re-election to Democrat Steve Lathrop, but in 2022 after Lathrop decided not to seek re-election, Riepe was again elected to the Nebraska Legislature.

Matthew V. "Matt" Hansen is a politician from the state of Nebraska in the Midwestern United States. In 2014, he was elected to the Nebraska Legislature, representing a Lincoln district. Hansen is a member of the Democratic Party.

Nicole Fox is a politician from the state of Nebraska in the Midwestern United States. She is a member of the Republican Party. In 2015, she was appointed to fill a vacant seat in the Nebraska Legislature, representing a district in downtown and southern Omaha. In 2016, she sought election to the seat and came in third in the nonpartisan primary and thus failed to advance to the general election.

Carol Blood is an American politician from the U.S. state of Nebraska. In 2016, she was elected to represent District 3 in Sarpy County in the Nebraska Legislature with 51.56% of the vote. In 2020 she was re-elected with 50.4% of the vote. She was the Democratic nominee in the 2022 Nebraska gubernatorial election. Blood is a member of the Democratic Party, though elections to the Nebraska Legislature are officially nonpartisan.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Megan Hunt (politician)</span> American politician from Nebraska

Megan Catherine Hunt is an American entrepreneur and politician serving as a member of the Nebraska Legislature. Hunt represents the 8th legislative district in Omaha, consisting of the midtown neighborhoods of Dundee, Benson, and Keystone. She succeeded term-limited Nebraska State Senator Burke Harr. She identifies as bisexual, and was the first openly LGBT person elected to the state legislature of Nebraska, as well as the first woman to represent the 8th district.

Machaela M. Cavanaugh is an American politician serving in the Nebraska Legislature from the 6th district. She is a member of the Democratic Party.

Mike McDonnell is an American politician who serves in the Nebraska Legislature, representing the 5th district. He was a Democrat before switching to the Republican Party in 2024 after being censured by the Nebraska Democratic Party for voting for anti-abortion and anti-transgender legislation.
