Hedayet Ahmed (March 20, 1933 - June 5, 2001) was a diplomat and the former Ambassador of Bangladesh to Saudi Arabia. [1] He was a secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism. [2]
Ahmed completed his Bachelor's in Business Studies from Dhaka University in 1954. He then completed his Master's in Public Administration from Harvard University in 1959. [3] He is a member of the Bangladesh Economics Association. [3]
Ahmed was a deputy secretary in the civil service of Pakistan in 1971 at the time of the Bangladesh Liberation War. [4]
On February 7, 1983, Ahmed was appointed as the Ambassador of Bangladesh to Egypt, replacing Lieutenant General Mir Shawkat Ali. [5] Ali was then appointed ambassador of Bangladesh to Germany. [6] On August 6, 1985, M Siddiqur Rahman replaced him as the Ambassador of Bangladesh to Egypt. [5]
Ahmed was appointed ambassador of Bangladesh to Saudi Arabia on August 1, 1985, replacing Mohammad Mohsin. [7] Quazi Golam Dastgir replaced him as the ambassador on February 2, 1988. [7] During his time as ambassador in Saudi Arabia, he founded Bangladesh International School, Dammam that opened on February 1, 1987.
Ahmed was the President of the University of Asia Pacific. [8] He had worked for UNESCO in Bangkok. [9]
