Johann Nepomuk von Laicharting was an Austrian entomologist. He was born in Innsbruck on 4 February 1754 and died in the same city on 7 May 1797, and was a Professor of Natural Science (Naturgeschichte) in Innsbruck. He described new species and genera of Coleoptera in Verzeichniss und Beschreibung der Tyroler-Insecten. 1. Teil. Kaferartige Insecten. 1. Band. 1781: I-XII, 1-248. - Zurich, bey Johann Casper Fuessly 1781. In English, lists and descriptions of Tyrol insects - beetles. Presumably this was intended to cover all Austrian insects but no further parts were published.
Ernst Friedrich Germar was a German professor and director of the Mineralogical Museum at Halle. As well as being a mineralogist he was interested in entomology and particularly in the Coleoptera and Hemiptera. He wrote monographs on several insect families including the Scutelleridae. He also took an interest in paleoentomology.
Carl Heinrich Georg(es) von Heyden was a German senator and entomologist. He collected insects in all orders but was especially interested in Coleoptera, Microlepidoptera, Hymenoptera, Diptera and fossil insects. His collections are divided between the German Entomological Institute and the Senckenberg Museum.
Johann August Ephraim Goeze was a German zoologist, born in Aschersleben. He is known for the discovery of tardigrades, also called water bears. He was the son of Johann Heinrich and Catherine Margarete. He studied theology at University of Halle. He married Leopoldine Maria Keller in 1770, by whom he had four children. In 1751, he became a pastor in Aschersleben, in Quedlinburg, and later of St. Blasius' Church in Quedlinburg in 1762, finally becoming first deacon of the seminary of Quedlinburg in 1787. He died in Quedlinburg.
Jean Nicolas Vallot was a French entomologist. He wrote Détermination précise des insectes nuisibles, mentionnés dans les différents traités relatifs à la culture des arbres fruitiers, et indications des moyens à employer pour s'opposer à leurs ravages (1827)
Gustav Weymer (1833–1914) was a German entomologist. He described many new taxa of butterflies from specimens collected by Alphons Stübel in South America.

Heinrich H. Riffarth was a German entomologist who specialised in Lepidoptera.
Karl Vorbrodt, or Carl, was a Swiss entomologist who specialised in Lepidoptera and microlepidoptera. Vorbrodt published fauna studies, revisions and descriptions of new species in Mitteilungen der Schweizerischen Entomologischen Gesellschaft. Together with Johann Müller-Rutz he wrote Die Schmetterlinge der Schweiz Bern K.J. Wyss, 1911-1914. His collection of Palearctic Lepidoptera is in the Natural History Museum of Bern.
Ludwig Imhoff was a Swiss physician and entomologist. Imhoff was the son of a merchant Hieronymus Imhoff and his wife Johanna nee Wenk in Basel. He attended the Samuel Hopf school in Basel, which followed the educational methods of Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi. He then attended the Pädagogium in Basel. In 1820 he began law studies but switched to medicine. He studied medicine in Strasbourg, Heidelberg, Halle and Berlin. In 1826, after completing his studies, he returned to Basel. Here he worked as a doctor and naturalist. He married Maria Julia Auguste Heitz in 1829. Ludwig Imhoff habilitated at the University of Basel as a zoologist with a focus on entomology. Also from 1826 he began his work on the entomological collection of the Natural History Museum of Basel. He also made a collection of European insects for the Museum of Comparative Zoology at Harvard University. Imhoff was a member of several natural history societies, as from 1826 Naturforschenden Gesellschaft des Kantons Basel and from 1827 Schweizerischen Naturhistorischen Gesellschaft. From 1859 to 1868–1870 he was Präsident der Schweizerischen Entomologischen Gesellschaf. He was particularly active in the field of classification of Hymenoptera and Coleoptera.
Adolf Rössler, was a German entomologist who specialised in Lepidoptera.Amongst others he described Cochylidia moguntiana, Aethes bilbaensis and Eupithecia millefoliata Rössler, 1866
Charles Théophile Bruand d'Uzelle was a French entomologist who specialised in microlepidoptera. He described several new species and erected the families Elachistidae, Oecophoridae and Roeslerstammiidae and the geometrid tribes Ourapterygini and Hemitheini. He was a member of the Société entomologique de France. His macrolepidoptera and Psychidae collections are held by the Natural History Museum, London and the microlepidoptera by the Musee d'Histoire Naturelle, Paris.
Carl Heinrich Reutti was a German entomologist who specialised in Lepidoptera. He wrote (1853) Lepidopteren-Fauna Badens.Beiträge zur Rheinischen Naturgeschichte 3_3: 1-216 pdf in which he described Epichnopterix sieboldii. Other works are
August Arthur Petry was a German botanist and entomologist specialising in Microlepidoptera. He was a teacher of philology at the Gymasium in Nordhausen. August Petry was a Member of the Stettin Entomological Society. Ottmar Hofmann honoured his name in Caryocolum petryi. His collections are, in part, held by the Natural History Museum of Erfurt.
Franz Pfaffenzeller was a German entomologist who specialised in Lepidoptera especially the Microlepidoptera of the Alps. His collections are held by the Natural History Museum, Berlin
Georg Adolf Keferstein was a German lawyer and entomologist.
Karl, or Carl, August Teich was a German entomologist who specialised in Lepidoptera especially of the Baltic region. He described Caryocolum crepusculella, Gelechia bergiella and Gelechia farinosa among others. Fragments of his microlepidoptera collections are held by the Latvian Museum of Natural History. The bulk did not survive.
