The Academy Award for Best Makeup and Hairstyling is the Academy Award given to the best achievement in makeup and hairstyling for film. Usually, only three films are nominated each year rather than five as in most categories. The exception is in the early 1980s as well as 2002, when there were only two nominees; and in 1999, when there were four nominees.

Shear Genius is an American reality television series on the Bravo network that focuses on hair styling. The show ran for three seasons, from April 2007 to April 2010. It was hosted by actress Jaclyn Smith in seasons one and two and by Brazilian model Camila Alves for season three.
Bed Head is a line of haircare and nail products distributed by TIGI Linea, a division of Unilever, to distributors and salons worldwide. The United Kingdom-based company, TIGI Linea has been producing the line since the inception of the company. The creators of the line are British stylists Toni & Guy. The cosmetics line was first produced in 2003. A line produced by the company, called Boby by Bed Head, was released and is under a UK patent. Other lines produced by the company are being distributed by the Helen of Troy company as of May 2007. As of July 2007, the product line was chosen to be used by the world-famous Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders. Before starring in the American TV show Passions, Central American actor Adrian Bellani was a spokesperson and model for the products.

Personal stylists typically work one-on-one with the client, while Wardrobe Stylists are often part of a larger creative team collaborating with a fashion designer, photographer, art director, hair stylist, and makeup artist to put together a particular look or theme for the specific project.

L.A. Hair is an American reality television series on WE tv. The series debuted on May 31, 2012 and was originally titled Hair Divas: Hollywood. The series follows celebrity stylist Kim Kimble and her staff at her salon, Kimble Hair Studio. WE tv announced in October 2012 that the series had been renewed for a ten episode second season, which debuted on June 6, 2013. WE tv has ordered a 12-episode third season that premiered on May 22, 2014. On March 3, 2015 WE tv renewed the show for a fourth season that premiered in July 2015. The fifth season of L.A. Hair premiered on January 5, 2017.
