Heli Tuulikki Paasio (born November 24, 1972, in Turku) is a Finnish politician from Turku. A Social Democrat, she was member of the Parliament of Finland for Finland Proper from 1999 to 2015. [1]

Paasio is daughter of Pertti Paasio and granddaughter of Rafael Paasio [2] who were both prominent Social Democratic politicians. She graduated as Master of Philosophy (mathematics teacher) [2] in 1999. She was elected to the Parliament four times. In the 2011 election she received 13,945 votes, the most in Finland Proper and the eight-most in the entire Finland. [3] After a parliamentary career of sixteen years, she retired from the Parliament in 2015. [4]

Varsinais-Suomi is one of the 13 electoral districts of the Parliament of Finland, the national legislature of Finland. The district was established as Turku and Pori Province South in 1907 when the Diet of Finland was replaced by the Parliament of Finland. It was renamed Varsinais-Suomi in 1997. It is conterminous with the region of Southwest Finland. The district currently elects 17 of the 200 members of the Parliament of Finland using the open party-list proportional representation electoral system. At the 2023 parliamentary election it had 398,903 registered electors.

Heli Järvinen is a Finnish politician for the Green League, representing the Southern Savonia constituency from 2007 to 2011 and the Southeastern Finland constituency since 2015. She was elected to the Finnish Parliament in the parliamentary election of March 2007. She lost her seat in the Parliament of Finland in 2011 elections but was again elected in 2015. She was also a member of the municipal council of Kerimäki between 2005 and 2011. Since 2017 she has been a member of Savonlinna town council. She is the second vice-chairperson of the council.
