Helicap is a Singapore-based fintech and investment company. It specialises in the private credit market in Southeast Asia.

History

The company was founded in January 2018 in Singapore by David Z Wang, Quentin Vanoekal and Jeremy Tan. [1] In May 2018, Helicap raised US$1.5 million in a seed funding round led by Teo Ser Luck, the former Minister of State for Manpower. [2] [3] Other investors included Lim How Teck, Samuel Rhee, and Sam Phoen. [4] In September, Helicap raised US$5 million in a Pre-Series A round led by East Ventures and Soilbuild Group Holdings. [5]

In August 2019, Helicap acquired securities firm Arcor Capital. [6]

In April 2020, Helicap raised US$10 million in a Series A funding. [7] [8] In October 2021, the company was one of the participants in the debt financing of the Funding Societies platform. [9] In the next month, Helicap was one of the backers pre-series A round of the startup Moduit. [10]

In January 2022, the company provided $15 million in debt to the startup ErudiFi. [11] [12] In June of the same year, Helicap provided $15 million to the technology social enterprise iCare Benefits. [13] In the same month, Helicap raised US$5 million in a strategic funding round led by Tikehau Capital and PhillipCapital. [14] In September, the company also provided 20 million US dollars to the Philippines startup Billease. [15] [16]

iPrice Group

iPrice Group Sdn Bhd is a privately owned online shopping aggregator based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The company is an online aggregator that simplifies a consumers shopping experience by allowing them to browse for products and compare prices from various online stores. iPrice is a funding and investment product of Asia Venture Group and currently operates in eight Asian countries; namely Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia and Australia. As of May 2017, iPrice hosts a catalogue of over 110 million products from over 1000 merchants across the region, including big e-commerce sites like Lazada and Zalora.

Funding Societies is a Southeast Asia’s digital financing platform for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), headquartered in Singapore. It was the first such platform in Singapore to engage an escrow agency to independently and safely manage investors’ funds. In Indonesia it is known as Modalku. Since its launch, it has disbursed more than US$2.6 billion in business financing to MSMEs through more than 5.1 million loan transactions.

Jirnexu Sdn Bhd (Jirnexu) is a Southeast Asian financial technology startup headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The company provides technology to help financial institutions manage different stages of the customer journey: marketing, acquisition, fulfilment and retention. It currently has business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) operations in Malaysia and Indonesia.

Capital Match is a invoice financing platform for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Southeast Asia. Headquartered in Singapore, it operates an online platform for SMEs to seek funds from investors.

Easyship is a shipping platform that connects sellers and marketplaces to couriers. Easyship was launched in Hong Kong in 2014 and expanded to Singapore in November 2016.

Nium is a Singapore-headquartered cross-border payments company. Initially founded by Prajit Nanu and Michael Bermingham, and launched as consumer-remittance platform Instarem in 2014. In 2016, the company introduced its B2B payments platform and rebranded as Nium in 2019, subsequently elevating Pratik Gandhi to co-founder in 2021.

PT Trinusa Travelindo, operating as Traveloka is an Indonesian technology company focused on travel and ticketing. Operating a services website of the same name and based out of Jakarta, Indonesia, Traveloka is active in six countries, and in 2022 remained the largest online travel app in Southeast Asia. Founded in 2012 as a travel search engine, it now also offers services such as attraction tickets, activities, transportation rentals, and restaurant vouchers. It also provides financial services such as credit and insurance. Classified as a unicorn company and regarded as functionally similar to Expedia, in 2022 it was valued approximately at US$3 billion.

Quest Ventures is a venture capital firm founded in 2011 by James Tan and Wang Yunming in Beijing, China. The firm mainly focuses on digital commerce investments and has an office in Singapore. The firm deploys funds across Asia in countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Indonesia. Quest Ventures is also the largest anchor tenant at JTC Launchpad.
