Henrik Schwarz (born 31 May 1972) [2] is a German deep house and classical crossover producer and DJ from Bodensee, [1] [3] whose career began in the early 1990s. [2] He has remixed music for numerous musicians, including Coldplay, Mary J. Blige, and Foals. [4] In 2017, he worked with songwriter/producer Jarrah McCleary (Panama). [5]

Music career

Since 2002, Schwarz has worked on over 100 musical projects, [6] and in 2006, he mixed the compilation album DJ-Kicks: Henrik Schwarz . In 2007, he released Henrik Schwarz Live, which documented his shift from DJing to being a live laptop performer. [6] Schwarz has partnered with !K7 to launch a new label, Between Buttons. Focusing on acoustic sounds and contemporary classical music, the label's first release was an EP from Schwarz himself, titled Works Piano, [7] followed by an EP titled Aphorisms, by Syrian artists Khaled Kurbeh & Raman Khalaf Ensemble. [8]

He has been part of the music industry since the early 1980s when he began as a producer of concert video footage of musicians in the punk music genre. He founded !K7 in 1985 and became an influential part of the Berlin techno music industry in the early 1990s. Weidenmüller curated and produced a popular techno music audiovisual series, X-Mix, which aired on MTV in the mid-1990s. He also serves on the board of several trade associations, including the IMPALA where he was co-president until 2011. Since its founding in 2008, he has also served on the board of the digital rights agency Merlin Network.
