Henry Ford Technical Fellow

In 1994, Ford Motor Company created the position of Henry Ford Technical Fellow. This appointment is the most prestigious technical leadership position in the Company. It is intended to recognize exceptional engineers and scientists in research, product development, quality, information technology and manufacturing. It also recognizes their contributions as top technical experts with a national/international reputation in a key automotive related field. Fellows provide technical expertise, guidance and leadership in the application of relevant engineering and/or scientific principles to product development, manufacturing, smart mobility, information technology, data and analytics, and other areas of the business on technical matters. They also play a major consultative role to the senior leadership of the company in the development of corporate technical strategy and plans, and serve as champions of the Technical Specialist Program in the Company. To date, there have been 19 individuals appointed as a Henry Ford Technical Fellow.

The Dunton Campus is a major automotive research and development facility located in Dunton Wayletts, Laindon, Essex, United Kingdom, which is owned and operated by Ford Motor Company. Ford Dunton houses the main design team of Ford of Europe alongside its Merkenich Technical Centre in Cologne, Germany. With the closure of Ford's Warley site in September 2019, the staff from the UK division of Ford Motor Credit Company and Ford's UK Sales and Marketing departments have moved to the Dunton site. As of November 2019, Dunton had around 4,000 staff working at the site.

Haren S. Gandhi was an American inventor and engineer, a recipient of the U.S. National Medal of Technology and Innovation, noted for his research and inventions in the field of automotive exhaust catalysts. Gandhi was elected to the National Academy of Engineering in 1999 "for contributions to the research and development of automotive catalysts". Gandhi held 61 U.S. patents. He was also the director of chemical engineering and a Henry Ford Technical Fellow at the Ford Motor Company. President George W. Bush presented Gandhi with the National Medal of Technology and Innovation at the White House in 2003. The National Academy of Engineering called Gandhi "one of the world's foremost authorities in the area of automotive emissions control".

Manohar Lal Munjal is an Indian acoustical engineer, honorary professor, and INSA senior scientist at the Facility for Research in Technical Acoustics (FRITA) of the Indian Institute of Science. He is known for his studies on aeroacoustics and finite wave analysis of exhaust systems. He is an elected fellow of all the three major Indian science academies viz. Indian Academy of Sciences, Indian National Science Academy, National Academy of Sciences, India as well as the Indian National Academy of Engineering. He has published three books viz. Noise and Vibration Control, Acoustics of Ducts and Mufflers With Application to Exhaust and Ventilation System Design, and IUTAM Symposium on Designing for Quietness and has contributed chapters to books edited by himself and others. The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, the apex agency of the Government of India for scientific research, awarded him the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology, one of the highest Indian science awards for his contributions to Engineering Sciences in 1986.

Surendra Prasad is an Indian communications engineer, a former director and an Usha chair professor of the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. He is also an emeritus professor of Bharti School of Telecommunication Technology And Management, a joint venture of IIT Delhi and is known for developing new techniques, algorithms and hardware in signal processing. He is an elected fellow of all the three major Indian science academies viz. Indian Academy of Sciences, Indian National Science Academy and the National Academy of Sciences, India. as well as the Indian National Academy of Engineering. Shirley Ellen Schwartz or Ellen Shirley Schwartz was a chemist and research scientist at General Motors, specializing in the study and development of industrial lubricants and automobile oil change indicator systems. She was inducted into the Michigan Women's Hall of Fame in 1996 for her accomplishments in the field of chemistry.

Md. Azizur (Aziz) Rahman was a Canadian Bangladeshi inventor of modern energy-efficient electric motors that span multiple industry applications. He was an electrical engineer, professor, researcher and scientist. He is internationally recognized as one of the founding innovators of modern power engineering and a pioneer in the development and application of interior permanent magnet motors and associated drive technology-used in the world's first mass-produced hybrid vehicle, the Toyota Prius. Since launching the Prius in 1997, Toyota surpassed global sales of 15 million hybrid vehicles in 2020, all of which use Dr. Rahman's IPM motor drive. His research contributions were broad and adopted in a wide range of electric motor applications ranging from vacuum cleaners, air conditioners, elevators to aircraft.

Jing Sun is a Chinese American marine engineer and control theorist who studies control systems for vehicle propulsion, and is known for her work combining robust control and adaptive control. She is Michael G. Parsons Collegiate Professor of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering at the University of Michigan, and chair of the University of Michigan Department of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering.
