Herman Friele (born 21 August 1943) is a Norwegian businessman and politician for the Conservative Party. He has been chairman of the coffee manufacturer Friele since 1981,as the seventh generation Friele in charge of the company. [1] He was the highly popular mayor of Bergen from 2003 to 2007. [2]
Before the 2003 election,a survey found that 64% of the inhabitants of Bergen wanted him to become the mayor after the election. [3] When Friele announced that he would not be running for mayor in the 2007 election, [2] a survey showed that 60% of the inhabitants of Bergen wanted him to continue in the job.[ citation needed ]
Bergen,historically Bjørgvin,is a city and municipality in Vestland county on the west coast of Norway. As of 2021,its population is roughly 285,900. Bergen is the second-largest city in Norway. The municipality covers 465 square kilometres (180 sq mi) and is on the peninsula of Bergenshalvøyen. The city centre and northern neighbourhoods are on Byfjorden,'the city fjord',and the city is surrounded by mountains;Bergen is known as the "city of seven mountains". Many of the extra-municipal suburbs are on islands. Bergen is the administrative centre of Vestland county. The city consists of eight boroughs:Arna,Bergenhus,Fana,Fyllingsdalen,Laksevåg,Ytrebygda,Årstad,and Åsane.
The Triangle Link is a fixed link with three branches that connects the islands of Stord and Bømlo to each other and to the mainland at Sveio,Norway. It consists of the underwater Bømlafjord Tunnel from Sveio to the island of Føyno,the Stord Bridge from there to Stord,and a road including the Bømla Bridge and the Spissøy Bridge to Bømlo. The section from Sveio to Stord is part of European Route E39,while the branch to Bømlo is part of County Road 542.
Coast Air AS was a regional airline based at Haugesund Airport,Karmøy in Norway. The Askøy Bridge is a suspension bridge that crosses the Byfjorden between the municipalities of Bergen and Askøy in Vestland county,Norway. It is 1,057 meters (3,468 ft) long and has a main span of 850 meters (2,789 ft). Its span was the longest for any suspension bridge in Norway,until the Hardanger Bridge was opened in August 2013. Now the bridge is the third longest in Norway. It carries two lanes of County Road 562 and a combined pedestrian and bicycle path. The bridge's two concrete pylons are 152 meters (499 ft) tall and are located at Brøstadneset in Bergen municipality and Storeklubben in Askøy municipality. The bridge has seven spans in total,although all but the main span are concrete viaducts. The bridge has a clearance below of 62 meters (203 ft).
Håkon Eikemo Opdal is a Norwegian former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He has previously played for Brann and Start,where he won Tippeligaen in 2007 and the Norwegian Cup in 2004.
Helge Haugen is a Norwegian footballer who plays as a midfielder for Sogndal. Born in Bergen,Haugen started his professional career in the local Tippeligaen club Brann. During his time at the club,he won the 2004 Norwegian Football Cup and the 2007 Tippeligaen. He has later played for Tromsøand Hønefoss,before he joined Sogndal ahead of the 2014 season. Haugen played one match for the Norwegian under-21 team in 2003.
Harald Olav Aabrekk is a Norwegian football coach and a former player. He played for Sogndal and Brann in the Tippeligaen,Norway's top professional football league. He has been head coach of Sogndal,Tromsø,Brann,Haugesund,Vålerenga and Aalesund,and has also served as an assistant coach for the Norway national football team.
Stord Sunnhordland Fotballklubb was an association football club located in Leirvik,Stord,Norway. It was founded in late 2002 as a cooperation between the football sections of Leirvik's local multi-sports club Stord IL and lower-division Moster IL. The club was named Stord/Moster FK until 2006. Two investors,football agent Terje Simonsen and professional footballer Kjetil Løvvik,were behind the merger. It was founded to create one large club in the Sunnhordland region,to attract support behind the club. Critics claimed that the investors were mainly looking to develop players to sell for cash. Top goalscorer the first season was Kjetil Løvvik himself,who quit a professional career to play for the club. Stord/Moster fared well on the football field;they won their Third Division group twice in a row,and on the second occasion they gained promotion through playoff. They then played two seasons in the Second Division. Their biggest talent was Christian Brink who went on to higher levels of football.
Bergen Light Rail is a light rail system in Bergen,Norway. The first stage of the project was a twenty-station stretch between the city center and Lagunen Storsenter,where the first 15 stations comprising a 9.8-kilometre (6.1 mi) stretch opened in 2010,and the second was a 3.6-kilometre (2.2 mi) stretch from Nesttun to Lagunen which opened in June 2013. A third stretch from Lagunen to Bergen Airport,Flesland opened in 2017. The second line between Kaigaten and Fyllingsdalen opened on 21 November 2022. Further plans for the project involve mooted extensions to Åsane and Storavatnet.

Kronstad is a neighbourhood in the borough of Årstad in the city of Bergen in Vestland county,Norway. It is located in the northern part of the borough,south of the large Store Lungegårdsvannet bay,east of the neighborhood of Solheim,north of Minde,west of Landås,and west of Møllendal and Haukeland. The neighbourhood was named after the old Kronstad farm,which was formerly known as "Hunstad". After the vicar of Bergen Cathedral purchased the farm in 1705,the name was changed to "Cronstad" which later changed to Kronstad.
