Hermia (Finland)

Hermia is a science park near Tampere University of Technology (TUT). Hermia is located in Hervanta, a suburb of Tampere, Finland. Hermia is also acting as a technology centre for its region.

Hermia offers office space and facilities for both small technology startups and larger companies. It consists of 100,000 m2 of office space and is home to 150 companies and research organizations, for example to many research and development units of the cell phone manufacturer Nokia.

Products developed in the offices of Hermia have included the first Nokia Communicator mobile phone, as well as Nokia's first camera-phone. The site is also home to one of the offices of Nokia Research Center, where among other activities the EFR and WB-AMR codecs were developed.

KaiOS is a mobile Linux distribution for keypad feature phones based on the Firefox OS open-source project. It is developed by KaiOS Technologies Limited; a company based in Hong Kong, whose largest shareholder is Chinese electronics conglomerate TCL Corporation. KaiOS runs on feature phones or wireless home phones made with low-power hardware and low power consumption. KaiOS supports modern connectivity technologies like 4G LTE E, VoLTE, GPS, and Wi-Fi. KaiOS runs HTML5-based apps. KaiOS supports over-the-air updates and has a dedicated app marketplace called KaiStore. Some applications are preloaded, including Facebook and YouTube. Hatanpää is a district in Tampere, Finland, located in the southern part of the city center on the shores of Lake Pyhäjärvi. Hatanpää is actually a peninsula that protrudes towards the lake, leaving the waters of Viinikanlahti Bay to the north and Vihilahti Bay to the south. The area is named after Hatanpää Manor, whose land from Härmälä to Sääksjärvi and Nekala was bought for the city in 1913. Administratively, the area has belonged to the city since 1920. In 2014, the population of the area was measured as 2,686 inhabitants.

Tesoma railway station is a railway station in the Tesoma district in Tampere, Finland. The station opened on August 16 2021, with one track at first. The station is located on the Tampere–Pori railway between the track kilometres 196+080 and 196+370. It serves the Tampere commuter rail line M and long-distance traffic between Tampere and Pori. The trip from Tesoma to the Tampere railway station takes about 9 minutes. The location of the station is to the south of the Tesomajärvi shopping centre on the border of the districts of Ristimäki and Rahola.
