At 6:00 am on 10 May 1940, during the Battle of the Netherlands, the German envoy Count von Zech-Burkersroda gave the Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs Van Kleffens a message. It was not an actual declaration of war. The message was later interpreted by the Dutch as a declaration of war; however from the German side it was at the time seen as a mere warning, hopefully intimidating the Dutch enough to accept German military protection. At the time of delivery, the German troops had already transgressed the Dutch border.
Gorki was a Belgian rock group, in its most recent line-up consisting of Luc De Vos, Luc Heyvaerts, Erik Van Biesen, Thomas Vanelslander (guitarist) and Bert Huysentruyt (drums). Three songs by Gorki were number one hits in the Studio Brussel alternative hitlist De Afrekening in Belgium: 'Lieve kleine piranha', 'Schaduw in de schemering and 'Joerie' in 2006. Luc De Vos died on 29 November 2014.

De Dijk were a Dutch rock band existing from 1981 to 2022. The band were named after Zeedijk, a street in their hometown Amsterdam. Their music can be described as a mixture of soul, blues and rock 'n roll, with lyrics sung only in Dutch, except for their 2010 album Hold On Tight; the song Enough is Enough, both of which are sung in English by Solomon Burke; and Stupid Guy from the album Wakker in een vreemde wereld, performed in English by the regular band.
Gore was a Dutch rock band formed in 1985. They released five studio albums, one live album, one EP, two compilation albums with live material, demo recordings and remixes and had two compilation appearances between 1986 and 1997. They split up in 1997.

De Kreuners are a Flemish rock band established in 1978. They first received interest when they won the first Humo's Rock Rally in 1978, but didn't get a record contract. They self released their first three singles. They recorded their first single Nummer een in London. It became their first success. After these three singles, they signed with Warner Bros. and released in 1981 's Nachts kouder dan buiten. It sold 30,000 copies. By the time of their second album, 1982's Er sterft een beer in de taiga, they were one of Flanders' most successful bands, and the record became gold in two days time. In 1990 they switched to EMI and released their biggest success, the 1990 album Hier en nu, which sold 100,000 copies. The single Ik Wil Je has sold over 1 million copies. Their best of Het beste van de Kreuners is already certified platina before its release date.

The Bintangs are a Dutch rhythm and blues band. Founded in 1961 in Beverwijk as an indorock band, they soon began playing a rougher, rhythm and blues-inflected style. The band had a four-year hiatus in the 1980s but reunited and are still active. The band has gone through many members, with Frank Kraaijeveld as a constant element. They scored one hit, in 1970, and though commercial success has eluded them nationally and internationally they remain a popular live act.
Songs of Innocence is the debut English-language solo album by the Belgian Flemish singer Jasper Steverlinck, frontman of Arid. It was released in 2004 by PIAS Recordings, and it topped for five weeks the Belgian Album Chart, and reached No. 48 in the Wallonia Region. The album include the previous year's single "Life On Mars?", an acoustic cover of the Davie Bowie song with the Kolacny brothers pianists, which had spent seven weeks at No.1 in Belgium in 2003.

Laurens van Rooyen was a Dutch pianist and composer. He was known for his cooperation in the theater with Herman van Veen. He composed many pieces for the piano and wrote the score for several Dutch films. He wrote two books on his experiences as a musician.

Vandale was a Dutch hard rock and heavy metal band. Founded in 1979, they were unique for using the Dutch language in their lyrics, unlike most other Dutch rock bands of the time. They released two albums in the early 1980s, but a third album was never put on sale, and their label dropped the band in 1984 for lack of commercial success. They came back together in the early 2000s, releasing a single in 2008 and an album in 2017. In 2020, after personnel changes, the band changed its name to Moondawgs and started singing in English.
Andries Boelens, also: Boelenz, Boelensz., Andries Boel Dircksz. or Andries Boelen Dircksz, was an alderman and mayor of Amsterdam. In the period from 1496 to 1517 he was mayor fifteen times. The term of his office is the first to be characterized as a period with a rather closed government elite. Because of this he was one of the founders of the Amsterdam oligarchy. Boelens is considered the progenitor of the Amsterdam regents of the Dutch Golden Age such as the De Graeff and Bicker families who largely claimed descent and their political legality from him.
